Hey /vr/, can I get some PC Engine recs, specially CD releases? I just got a little Retropie machine and I'm interested in catching up on PC Engine stuff after having grown up mostly with Sega/Nintendo systems.

Playing Rondo of Blood currently, but that one is kind of the most obvious among obvious.

Cotton, the PC Engine version also has the best variant of the OST.

I can not. Also I'm mostly a basic bitch in terms of genre tastes so I'm fine with general action and platforming fare.

>so I'm fine with general action and platforming fare.

the hucard library has a lot more platformers/action games. shooters are evenly split between CD/hucard though

i'll recommend some great sidescrollers
>sonson ii (capcom exclusive sequel to black tiger)
>liquid kids
>bonze adventure
>bonk 2 (1st one is very solid but 2 is the best)
>ninja spirit
>ninja gaiden
>dragon trap
>tonma
>momotaro katsugeki
>splatterhouse
>samurai ghost (damn pretty at least)
>new adventure island (best in the series imo)
>veigues tactical gladiator
>makai prince dorabochan (fun and cute)
>valis 1 (CD)
>kaze kiri (CD)

shinobi, new zealand story and strider are very flawed ports but still fun

Xanadu English patch soon®

Didn't they claim the script translation was finished a decade ago and the patch got only delayed because they wanted to create a fucking english dub that nobody wants?

The people who just translated Private Eye Dol managed to hack subs into every cutscenes.
I don't know if those dubfags are incompetent or plain malevolent.

Ayyyy, literally had mine turn up from moonland a few days ago. (After a 3 months slow boat, shit basically took the same time to get here if it grew legs and walked)

Of course the disc drive is fucked, thankfully it's a common fault (melted gear) so it should be up and running once my guy has a look at it.

The lack of copy protection is gonna have me burning everything under the sun for it.

>> No.9591749

It's a mix of both, probably both easier and more interesting/fun for them to just do a dub.

Supper always states that hacking subs is not easy as they are effectively another graphics layer. Sometimes it is not viable.
