Okay /vr/,

This is a thread for you collectors.

What is a game that has alluded your hands through out the entirety of your collecting? But here is the catch. It has to be a common game. One that everyone seems to have.

Mine is Marios Bros 2. No fucking lie. I have bought 8 NES collections in the past year and not a single fucking Mario Bros 2.

it's taken me a while to find a copy of Fire and Ice.

I'm thinking of picking up a copy of the Famicom version, for 32 bucks.

Is it worth it? Harder than the first Solomon's Key?

>> No.958629

I have no Mega Man, Metroid or Castlevania games. I feel so left out.

>> No.958638

>>958624
Yeah, but Fire 'N' Ice is legitimately hard to find.

Those games are always way too overpriced, probably because people think it's fair since they're so popular.

Well, screw them. It's some real bullshit, man.

Contra. I've been collecting for over a decade, but somehow I never end up with a copy of Contra. I just realized it thanks to this thread.

Well, I'm dismantling my collection to pay bills anyway, so I guess it doesn't matter much now.

I can't seem to find Kung Fu or Ninja Gaiden anywhere.

>> No.958660

I for the life of me cannot find a copy of Zelda 2 in the wild. The one time I thought I did, someone had swapped the board with Zelda 1.

I've bought 5 Game Boy packages at garage sales and I have not seen a single Tetris. I even have Tetris 2, complete.

Friend just gave me all his games EXCEPT fire and ice because it's worth like 75 bucks.

I'm about in the same place. Before this whole retro revival thing, when I first started collecting, I neglected picking any of them up over other, comparatively obscure games, with my logic being something like, "I can just pick those up later; they're so common and popular, it's not like their prices will skyrocket 500% in five years!"
How foolish I was...

Also, Toejam & Earl 2. Never found it for a great price.

A boxed copy of Sonic 3D Blast for the Genesis. I have every Genesis Sonic game in the box, and I have 3D Blast loose, but for the love of fuck I cannot find a boxed copy.

I always buy the more obscure games first, they're cheaper.

I really wish could find a copy of Gradius or Gradius 2 for the Famicom.

>> No.958941

I can't fucking find a Gyromite or any other black label NES game with a famicom converter in it and I ain't gonna pay $25 for one online or a Honey Bee.

gradius 2 for famicom took me a while to find at a reasonable price, finally found it on craigslist locally somehow. for $20.

I can't find anything in the Ghouls 'n Ghosts series to save my life.

Super Mario RPG. The game was like $10 at EB Games when I was like 12 or so. Didn't buy it then and regretted it ever since. I've since played it, but it still hurts.

Still don't have a physical copy.;_;

Checked a site I buy Japanese games from, minus shipping I can get both Gradius titles loose for 2000 yen ~$21

i've since bought it, and buying a famicom game on craigslist was a neat enough experience to overpay a bit. turned out the guy grew up in japan. now what is this site you speak of?

Yeah, I tend to like to look on sites like that for japanese games that are just way too much on ebay.

>> No.959021

Yeah, most places I've seen it seem to price it at $40 and upwards.

Fuck, once I lost the opportunity to buy a deal selling both of 'em for just $20.
