What is even a "toot toot"? This fucking line drives me crazy. I sang it ironically, but, after years, it doesn't come out of my head. Maybe, if I knew what a "toot toot" means, the spell would be broken.

I do. I like the JP soundtrack and understand that it's arguably the superior (having leitmotifs across all three time periods and whatnot), but for some reason, I prefer the english soundtrack.
By the way, the "Sonic The Hedgehog Boom" album has touched up versions of some of the US soundtrack:

Frankly, I'll take the moody and atmospheris NA soundtrack over the bland Japanese one any day. The latter isn't entirely bad, mind you, it just bores the fuck out of me.

Frankly, the only reason anyone ever liked the JP music was simply because it wasnt available to them for so many years. It's just cheap contrarianism.

If I had to rank Meteor's past arranges, I would go SS > WW > PP > QQ > TT > CC >>> MM. Metallic Madness feels like a subdued version of the present version and overall feels weaker compared to the rest of the set, except for maybe the power drill whirring in the background. Stardust Speedway and Palmtree Panic give some really cozy and relaxing vibes, while Wacky Workbench makes me want to dance a little, and the rest have this melancholy feel to them, they really establish a strong atmosphere.

As for your question, I don't know. I reckon they figured the infeasibility of replacing the past tracks early in development and never bothered creating tracks for them, and if they did, they're probably long discarded by now.

If you're still craving Sonic CD music, here's some more past arranges. These ones take more creative liberties than Meteor's.

Yeah, no, don't listen to this anon. The Gems Collection port of PC Sonic CD has so many issues it might possibly be the worst version of the game.
>Due to poor PC emulation, it has many layering problems, for example the unique water colors throughout Tidal Tempest's time periods are now clear and you can barely tell you're underwater if you're half-paying-attention, and Stardust Speedway bad future's background is inverted so the lightning is static and flashes to the wrong, non-lightning image.
>The compressed-from-console sound effects have been compressed even further (this is what everyone's referring to when they say "SCD's Jump SFX hurt my ears").
>Music is completely region-locked (the not-US PS2 version has files for both but you still need to do trickery to play in another language and then you'd be sacrificing 4P Sonic R for 2P only).
>If playing JP soundtrack, the Time Attack menu and racing Metal Sonic in Stardust Speedway good future now play the wrong themes due to not accounting for regional tracklist.
>Special Stage and ending cutscenes play at a wrong, faster speed, and the latter is missing the credits/text to hide how cheaply-made it was.
>Due to the controller mapping not accounting for all possible PC keys in use, the debug mode is now broken.
But no, the -loading screen- (taken from D.A. Garden) negates it, all right..Nah, the only reason to play Gems Collection anymore is for more accssible Sonic R and Sonic the Fighters.

NTA but nothing's really inherently wrong with the later ones. Sonic CD came at a time when everyone was starved for a decent rendition of the game due to years of Sega neglecting the game and the constant last-minute blueballing in compilations (the og console version only just recently got officially re-released via the mini). If you go back, it's got tons of oversights that weren't there for the sake of upgrading the physics, including a few new gamebreaking bugs, mistiming time travel, and easily wrecking Time Attack mode times if you use the default/redone Spin Dash. Stealth coming on board post-CD was clearly the missing piece that made the Retro Engine versions of 1 and 2 far better, but even his autism has limitations: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yvj5__-uIu4
The simple fact is that the Retro Engine, while impressive in its own right, can never fully replicate the original engines, and the fact that A.I.R. was generally better received than Origins' 3&K is telling.

US ost predicted modern Sonic osts, US ost is like boomery rock heavy kinda vibe that kinda close to buttrock stuff we get later vs the JP ost more black influence hip hop, house, etc vibe that honestly fits Sonic more and wish it stay in that direction.

I feel like its a 50/50 split between the US and Jap music.
Right off the bat, Sonic Boom is wonderful opposed to the Toot Toot Sonikku Wahyah bullshit.
Palmtree Panic US is so much better of a beach theme than the corny Jap one.
I love the US Robotnik theme being nightmarish. I prefer the piano and guitar Stardust Speedway US more than the "HURR HURR HURR" of the jap one.
In fact most of the Jap music is ruined by the stupid as fuck vocals. Metallic Madness Jp is kicking ass until a goblin starts rapping

BUT I'm a weirdo who really like how the Past music was vastly different from the Present and Futures.
