My buddy and I are going to be getting an Everdrive for his Master System in about a month.
We plan on using it mainly for a MIDI interface, so we can include the Master System in our music.
But since it can pretty much play any ROM for it, what are some SMS games worth playing?

Never before had a video game adaptation captured, so completely, the essence of the source material.

Holy shit.

... how come I never noticed (until I saw your picture) that the racoon and the bird from Regular Show are playing an actual videogame console?

Hold the phone. You can use flash carts as MIDI interfaces? Is this just on the Master System, or do all the Everdrives do that?

All it needs is Ai wo Torimodose playing in the game and it would be perfect.

The Everdrive is only used for the custom ROM, the main magic happens in an Arduino UNO that's connected to the 2nd controller port.

Can also be adapted for the Game Gear.

Are there any SMS games with cute anime girls?
I need my fix.

You have to sing it yourself. Also, it's an unwritten rule that you need to scream ATATATATATATATATA during all the "cutscenes".

Play some Zillion, it was Sega's Metroid!

Zillion 2 was also the first really disappointing sequel I ever got to play, since it was drastically different from 1.

Never had a SMS, the only AK I'd played was the 16-bit one, but somehow this looks like a better game. Also, just going through random SMS games on Youtube, did it have better sound clips than Genesis?

The original Phantasy Star is a lot of fun. Don't judge it by its mediocre sequels.

Yeah, great game, but it's way harder than the Genesis version. The sequel is nice too (Land of Illusion).
There's Wonderboy too, but you may have played themon another system.

Psychic World is such a great game. It's one of my favourites for the SMS/GG line of games

I have no idea who looks happier on that cover... cause the guy getting hit looks like he's having a wonderful time.

It's pretty easier than the arcade and Genesis versions but still a very good game.

This thread reminds me that I used to play Zillion everyday after school. EVERY. DAY. Start to finish, I had the whole run figured out down to a science. I actually was doing it again on my system (still in working order) a few years back, but life being what it is, I had to pause it. Fucking pressed reset instead.

Since then I tend to just play it on emulator if at all.
