Anyone else here bought this thing and is starting to wish they just got an xStation instead since that thing actually gets updates instead of focusing on DRM?

Pretty good

Why do you need a region changer for the X-Station? not an insult, just trying to learn more.

Hey, I use MechaPwn so I have to burn PS1 games.

Yeah I got one, it was good at first but when the x-station and MODE came out I regretted it ever since. Now I have a MiSTer so it's no longer something I think about.

OPL has replaced the need for one.

And then if you want to play PS1 ISOs you'll just be told to modify a PS1 instead.

Shitsux.

Unfortunately no. One benefit of the Saturn being the hodgepodge it was is that everything was separated. The PS1 is just too "perfect" in terms of consolidation.

i do the same thing with my jumbo ps3 with composite out and visually there isn't much of a difference between it and the ps1. i sat there like an autist playing the same game on both consoles and switching the video mode on the TV and there really isn't any significant difference that i'm seeing. otherwise yes it's much easier to FTP into the PS3 than deal with the PS1's options. i haven't bothered putting any PS1 games on my PS2's SATA yet so i can't vouch for that but i'm sure it's still easier to FTP PS3 ISOs.

you can use PSXLauncher.ELF to play burnt PS1 games on PS2, no need for a PS1 outside of those few games that don't work on PS2

Just bought an X-Station from a webshop in Germany, sadly the guy selling the printed 3D tray is away until the 19th so its gonna take a while before I get it done.
but it seems like a better way to do this stuff than my PSIO, if anything the X-Station allows me to be deliciously autistic about how I structure my SD card folders.

PS3 runs PS1 games perfectly. My problem with the PS3 is that it sounds like a rocket is about to blast into orbit. Even after cleaning, adding thermal paste and modding. I eventually decided to get a PS1 and install the XStation.

No. I got an X-Station and a MemCard Pro. Living the good life.

No. I saw that it had DRM and noped out. Same reason I won't ever get terraonion shit. Imagine having DRM in your pirate cart LMAO.
Only thing next is having completely open source firmware and hardware be the standard so we can truly break free from proprietary bullshit and waiting for devs to add features.

Sounds like it's signed or altered or something per-device from what I was able to Google, not just simply a case of having to login to download. The firmware download will only work for your serial number. Not too different from the crap PS-IO is pulling.

DRM on something like this is beyond absurd. I can't even fathom how or why this is even a thing that happened. Isn't it just like one guy? People are going to wind up with paperweights when he decides to abandon the thing.

No idea how many people are working on it, but there definitely seems to be a main guy at the least, and he's the one that is screeching about DRM.

>There’s only one thing the Terraonion one does extra and that’s the CD add on with the 32x combined

I thought neither of them could work in SegaCD mode if you had a 32X connected. And that the SegaCD emulation does not work if you have an actual SegaCD connected.
