Anybody try these? Do the buttons feel like cheap chink shit? Love the design of the hori controllers but can’t justify spending that much for a controller, and these would be perfect for emulating stuff on my wii.

they can't spell school right so th at's gonna be a red flag

I have one and like it. It feels a little cheaper than a first party controller or what I would assume the actual Hori controller feels like, but it's solid. It's definitely better for Game Boy stuff than the regular GameCube controller is.
Cable's super long, dpad's not half bad and the face buttons are good. The shoulder buttons could be better, but they work. I don't get weird diagonals on the dpad and none of the buttons stick so it's good enough for me.
$40 for an open box controller sounds a little steep, though; I don't remember paying that much for mine new.

I haven't used one but I've heard they're not good.

You could either get an adapter to plug a SNES controller into the Gamecube or your could modify to controller to plug directly into the Gamecube and either option would be cheaper (assuming you already have a SNES controller) and much better. Otherwise, there are official SNES controllers from Nintendo that plug directly into the port on your Wii remote.

never used it, I do know that some people obsess over the design of it and the hori pad because of the stupid gc's button layout though. I'm sure the dpad is fun though

Enjoy your bad buttons and extra lag. Burger King is hiring.

Ive heard people say if you replace the inner pads with a snes donor controller that these work pretty good. Kick myself everytime i remember my dumb ass passing on the hori ones they had for $12 when i was at the NYC Nintendo store in the mid 2000s.

Are there any high quality adapters these days where input lag isnt an issue? Do they all automatically assign the snes pads buttons to match the gba?

Oh man, I have a snes controller laying around here that doesn’t work, I’m gonna do this, thanks

Idk. In my case I wired up a SNES controller to directly plug into a Gamecube. I've never bothered with adapters.

I considered it for a while, but in the end the Raphnet Wii to Gamecube controller adapter seemed like the better choice. Allows you to use the Mini SNES controllers as well as the Wii classic gamepad and the pro controller.

raphnet & snes
bye

Same, due to Covid Old Skool pads became unobtainium in euroland. I've gone with Raphnet to avoid quality issues.

I own one of these, it works pretty well. If the hori ones are too expensive, don't be afraid to buy one of these

I got a pair of Hori ones back in the day for $20 at a pawnshop in my middle of nowhere home town. Not sure who was pawning exotic video game accessories for pennies in semi-rural Saskatchewan, but thanks

I have one and did this and can confirm it makes it a lot better. The original membranes basically can't do diagonals, but once switched out it works well

Are these identical in feel to the horipads that they're based on? I really should get something for 2D games and GBA player on the platform. I should probably just get a super nintendo controller adapter though.

I love this thing. I had no problem hitting hydokens and shroyokens, maybe even did it better than ever. I use this to play all of the NES, SNES, SEGA, and PSX games released on Gamecube (plus the Gameboy stuff). Really glad I picked one up

I used it extensively back then since GBA games were cheap and really filled out the library of the GameCube. It is like a SNES controller which is pretty comfortable for GBA titles for average sized hands. The Z button is a bit offset, so getting to the menu is a deliberate act.
