And then you learned 80% of the game world is useless and you just have to kill 450 mammoths to win. Weak.

The real win is the friends you make along the way.

i appreciate the off-beat visuals and audio design of this game, but the combat filtered me hard, really feels more like wrestling the controls than fighting the animals

>80% of the game world is useless
Such an odd, massive flaw. You'd think they could've easily spread out the mammoth spawns.

I haven't thought about this game in ages. There are so many strange psx games

Bless that anon who uploaded the manual a few years(?) ago. I wish more people would care about archiving manuals

>> No.9528929

We had this one. My mom bought it just because she thought the cover art was cool (complete boomer parent moment there). Yeah there's not much to it once you know what to do. Also you have to memorize what parts of the map have dangerous shit like saber tooth tigers so you know to not go there.

I feel like I got the best out of this game. I rented it a handful of times and found it fun but never really figured out the main game aspect so I never bought my own copy. In retrospect I made the best choice and didn't bother further. It's a shame though cause the idea has merit.

I'm still guilty of choosing games by that metric alone :(
The game definitely an interesting concept, so I wouldn't be disappointed if I picked it up for a few dollars.

>game has 10+ endings
>most of them are existential as all hell
Such a surreal experience. Also, has anyone documented the entire map? I remember hearing about UFOs and some underwater city, but I never came across that shit in my playthroughs.

Alright, I'm going to redownload this game now. I have to see this.

Bless him indeed. That manual is what got me to boot up my old save file and eventually finish the game.

>> No.9530096

the manual had a map of the game world but most of the stuff in a particular area you have to discover yourself such as where particular animals are. as anon said some areas have dangerous critters that can ruin your day.

They are nowhere near complete, the only one making an effort is that kirkland guy on archive.org who is uploading complete US manual sets

this game is surprisingly not well documented at all. hell there's still only one faq/walkthrough of this game and it's from 2002.

Where can I find a copy? I can't seem to find it.

Wish someone would write a more complete guide to this game.

yea I had fun streaming this game to some friends last year. We ended up getting a few of the different endings via save states
