I can't speak for Lakers, but I still pop in NHL 96 and NHLPA 93 every once in a while. They are no longer classified as sports simulators, IMO. But as far as 16bit sports games go, they are still worth playing. I am from Canada (eh), most of my friends when I was a kid either had NHL 9X for the Genesis or the SNES. People still love the old Madden games too. I was never really into hand egg. NHL 94 is one of the fan favorites from EA. The SNES version is underrated too.

I do but usually the more realistic the less I like them. I love games like Mutant League Football, NBA Jam, Tecmo Superbowl, Blades of Steel, Blitz, etc. Even old Baseball games can be a blast when playing against a friend.
