The cheat is FLICK to enable "blurry mode" in XG2. The first game's UGLYMODE cheat just disables the mipmapping, texture filtering and AA, which does improve performance but not as much as the sequel's cheat.

My grip with PS2 is that it was the time when arcade racing stopped losing relevance (not a fan of the burnouts, only one RR, and the Outrun 2 port for it sucks) and the Wipeouts got ruined.

I've tried the wheel meme once and found it just reduced the amount of playing I was doing. It's just more work to setup and start enjoying when you just could lay on the sofa, grab the controller and simply have some fun.

Not only that but PCSX2 is completely incapable of running games above their original base framerates, a 30fps PS2 game will always run at 30 on that piece of shit emulator. There are 60fps patches but none of them works ok at all.
But thankfully a huge chunk of the PS2 library is 60FPS.

I played Burnout 2 and 3 religiously on PS2 when they came out, and yes they were 60 fps. The games were explicitly designed around that framerate because Criterion did not fuck around in its heyday.

I only played TXR1&2 on my DC, I don't care about 3 because of the dumb yellow cars so I never played it, true.
I played enough PS2 on real hardware to know first hand it was a 60fps beast, that if the DC can run TXR at 60fps then so will the PS2, and PS2 emulation has never once made a 30FPS game run at 60, so emulation has no real weight on this discussion.
