For me, an Atari game or an early NES game gets me into the holiday spirit.

Playing Rogue on a Mac Plus right now, and while I'm having fun, it's not putting me in the holiday-zone. Shenmue is a good one as >>9499072 implies, Snatcher comes to mind. But Atari and NES games sounds perfect really.

Good thread. The only thing I can think of off the top of my head is Christmas NiGHTS, but I suppose anything winter-themed will do so maybe Ice Climbers?

There's lots of nice winter levels in various old games. If only we could make a ROM that's just those levels all packaged together as one big game and put that on a flash cart.

Previous thread >>9466060 had some nice recommendations, but for me it's Wario Land 3. It's not the best one and it's not christmas, but I got it for christmas together with Game Boy and it's the first game I consciously 100%-d.

I play through bf1942 campaigns every year around christmas time. Probably because it got it for christmas the year it came out and I almost make it part of my christmas ritual.
It's not a christmasty game really but there's a few snowy/winter maps.

Alone in the Dark 2, every Christmas
Also, to >>9494683 it gets marginally better in that it gets a bit less combat-heavy. My brothers and I replay it together every year but that's pretty much because we played it as kids. I absolutely agree that the camera angles suck in AITD2 and are completely unusable for someone who hasn't already played the game. 3 is better in this regard, but the puzzles in it are abysmal. AITD1 is still the best in the series.
Actually, I think the devs themselves have practically admitted that the hedge maze section was garbage by introducing a lame shortcut that has no in-universe justification in the CD version (the one used on gog), to the left of the mansion entrance. You could try using the shortcut if you really want to give the game a shot.

Vanilla WoW and no shit, the old Seirra Hoyle card games. You could set the back grounds too a winter cabin setting and it was asmr before I even knew what that was. Howling wind and campfire sound effects with classic sarcastic ai players. Cup of hot cocoa and good to go.

I just realized that models in AITD2 are animated using vertex animation rather than a skeleton, meaning that for all the sections where the Santa suit is available for the player, they had to animate separate versions of all cutscenes and special interactions for the Santa carnby model.
Seems funny to me for some reason

Snow levels of Donkey Kong Country games.
Pic related was still the most memorable Christmas Gift I ever received. Fuck I still remember how the styrofoam smelled as I laid eyes on my first snes. And what a fucking game to start off with too. Probably the best Christmas I'll ever experience.

Based. WL3 is one of the best GBC games. It's so big and complete.
