I've played through Parasite Eve on Christmas week for 7 or 8 years now. By the end of the second run I was completely maxed out and with god tier equipment, all subsequent playthroughs have been a comfy breeze to soak the atmosphere.

It's been so many years I got to lvl 99 it's hard to remember. I seem to remember I did grind a fair bit on the museum? The screen with the red carpet. Not to max level, but enough that by the time I was done with the Chrysler building I was done.

There's a fantastic PE artbook on archive.org.

It has storyboards for all the CGI sequences and, since they were made by Square's American office, all the notes are in English. I had to downsize and compress this to meet the filesize limits, but they're easily legible in the actual scans. There's some neat content that got cut in a few of them too. The alligator and dog transformations have some extra shots, there's a whole cutscene of Aya falling into the sewer that I don't remember ever actually happening in-game, and the scene with pregnant Eve in the museum is significantly longer, among other things.

Nomura didn't set down. He was forced off of verses 13 in order to focus on Kingdom Hearts 3. THEN he was taken off of that and forced to work on VII REmake, which is why it was the better product of the three.
