Just finished replaying the first 6 X games, so... Mega Man X thread? Mega Man X thread.

imo
X4 > X1 > X6 > X2 > X5 > X3 > X8 > X7

X1 > X2 > X3 > ARE THERE REALLY ANY MORE X GAMES AFTER 3? > X4 > X5 > X6 > SERIOUSLY STOP HERE > X7 > X8 > WHAT HAVE YOU DONE CAPCOM

X1 had the best everything, especially music. Deal with it.

1 > 2 > 4 > 8 > 5 > 3 > 6 > 7

X8 corrected many things that were wrong with X6 and X7 but seems to be overshadowed by X7's terribleness.

And it introduced quite possibly the worst feature of any X game, grinding for metals, yay.

Something about X8 just doesn't feel right to me. It might just be the lack of certain aesthetic effects that made the 2D games feel so fluid, but it just feels sluggish to me.

Not to mention they didn't completely learn their lesson with X7 and still threw in completely unnecessary and retarded 3D levels. Gigavolt's level is the worst rail shooter I've ever played.

It did have kickass music, though.

X is even easier than X4, though.

But if I wanted a challenge that badly, I would play the classic series and ignore the X games altogether. For me, the X series is all about being a badass dashing and shooting through everything standing in the way.

Every X thread whether on /v/, /vg/, or /vr/ we have to rank them. Well then...

1=2>3>4=5>6>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>7

Never finished 8 so I'm obligated to rank it, but I'm sure it's safe to say its better than 7. The Snes installments were the best. I also personally think 2 is better than 1 for having dash implemented from the start, and it's armor upgrades surpass X1's armor. Also shoryuken > hadouken. Again just my opinion; 1 and 2 are flawless.

X1 > X2 > X3 > X4 > X8 > X5 > X7 > X6

X6 is unplayable. X7 isn't nearly as bad as people say. The rest are simply awesome.

>> No.948352

X1 gets a lot of hype for being the first, but honestly, I think X2 is more polished. Boss rooms with different conditions and proportions, kickass weapons, fun rider armor action compared to the first, and a higher difficulty (fuck Agile, seriously).

Unfortunately, I don't find any of the X armors to be memorable, all they did was remind me of those weird superhero toys, shit like "Rocket Launcher Superman" where he's all green, etc.

The closest that's come to being great for me is the Command Mission redesign he had, which isn't even armor.

>> No.948385

Does anyone want there to be an X9? It's been so long since the last game and I think a new one would be great with the 16 bit style.

>> No.948394

what I hate about MMX is your special weapons are completely useless outside of cheesing boss weakness or exploring one or two gimmicks, and even then your chips/armor usually does the job better.

charged shots and dashing made every other weapon redunant, heart containers made it so that you can collide into every enemy on the stage and still make it to the boss room.

thank god for saber zero

Wow, far from it. Ever thought that maybe you're just bad at the game?

>> No.948723

The special weapons are incredibly useful for stages, especially in the first game. Storm Tornado and Fire Wave annihilate anything unfortunate enough to walk in front of you, and the charged Chameleon Sting is great for getting through tedious sections quickly.

I remember having this conversation with someone months ago on /v/. And I replied like this anon >>948715

Most special weapons from all X games are useful for a variety of purposes outside of killing bosses faster. For example I use Lightning Web in X4 to go through Cyber Peacock's and Frost Walrus' stages faster, and I use Strike Chain in X2 because it actually lets you move faster than dashing in areas that have walls.

In X5, a charged C-Shot will destroy some mini-bosses and enemies was more effectively and safely than a charged buster shot. In X3 Triad Thunder is overall a far better weapon than the buster against general enemies. I can go on and on. It's just not true that the X-Buster is the best weapon. If you think that you have not done enough exploring with your weapons

I actually really like the design for the Neutral Armor. It is a bit unoriginal in terms of utility, but the design is great. I really liked the face covering that comes up over the neck. I think it looks cool.

X1 - Basic, really nothing else to say about it besides it's fun
X2 - high speed and fast paced, awesome fights
X3 - lots of fun stuff to do, grungy and depressing music
X4 - colorful and full of action, very fun
X5 - poorly written and plotted, decent but not great
X6 - slapdash job, very poorly made
X7 - bye bye depth perception, looks awful, plays awful.
X8 - mediocre
Command Mission - fun for the first hour, then gets boring fast.

I like CM, but I can see your point. It really doesn't get good until the end of the game when you have some more options. I applaud them for making the last chapter replayable so you can level all you want, but after you take out Ninetails there is nothing left to do at all. Severely lacked sidequests and playability. Unless you are dead set on that purple scarf.
