Is there anything scarier than an enemy who constantly chases you and cannot be killed?

I mean, there's the fact that your death IRL is inevitable and inescapable but I'm not sure how real you wanted to get

what's even more horrifying is coming to the realization that you are in a meat suit, stuck on a loosh farm controlled by malevolent extraterrestrials where your soul will be continuously recycled into succeeding meat suits with no knowledge of your previous life and strange men with big noses on TV telling you that liquified dinosaur juice is more expensive than ever, while intermediate advertisements instruct you to purchase mutilated animal flesh and pocket computers used for looking at buttholes

More annoying than scary. I really really really really really really fucking HATE zoomers and their preference for "big bad scary boogiemen" that you cannot even defend yourselves against. It promotes this weird, alien, cuck mindset where you are not allowed to defend yourself at all costs and confrontation should be avoided.

Then again, I didn't grow up running from my bullies and hiding in lockers hoping they avoided me, I confronted them, so maybe I never will "get" that type of horror.

>> No.9471040

>>9470997
The big difference though is that older games often allowed you to defend yourself even if you can't kill the thing, and newer games will just kill you and reload your checkpoint. Being able to actually interact with the enemies really ups the tension compared to a totally unambiguous "see baddy run away from baddy"

I mean in some instances it makes sense to flee instead of fight, like in Crash Bandicoot when he's running from the triceratops, but why, WHY can I not pick up a pipe or some piece of debris in Outlast and use it to bash the enemies face in? Most of them are literally just dudes with skin problems. The Wallrider is the only one that makes sense you would have no defense against.

The problem isn't the big bad boogymen, anon. Mr. X in RE2make was quite enjoyable. The issue is somehow this had become the default for a fucking decade, and it overstayed its welcome.

yeah, a lot of things, because it's very hard to do a chaser enemy well and most games end up with you becoming annoyed of the enemy instead of scared

no the same case
You can fight back Nemesis, you destroys him and deform him

So I reapeat not the same case you CAN fight BACK NEMESIS

I preferer games where you can actually give beatings to enemies

>> No.9473735

>>9473720
Nemesis you can fight back but he never actually stops chasing you until the game is done. He's an unkillable enemy until the game decides he actually dies. Any other time you drop him, you really just temporarily injured him.

Most players are probably also not prepared to fight him during first playthroughs.
