Marx

The music is awesome, the background is very nice for a SNES game, he has a nicely wide range of attacks, and if Kirby didn't have that blocking ability the fight would be quite challenging (especially if you are a kid)

I've beaten it with Bomb, Yo-You, and Mirror.

Mirror is complete easy mode, because unlike all other powers, its block completely eliminates damage (at least on the SNES; I think they tweaked it for the remake).
You can literally just block forever and attack when there's an opening, and there's not even the "difficult to hit/escape with" problem the Stone ability has. Only a tiny handful of obvious attacks can break through it.

I told myself I wouldn't ask this but for the life of me I can't remember how I did it.

On this stage I recall that as a child that I could beat it without thinking. I basically spam those slime things in a simple pattern and somehow I would easily win. I thought for the longest time I found a cheat or easter egg for the game. It would work only for this stage though.

I forgot what would exactly happen but I want to say that a star or something appears and remove all of my slime that I spam down and fuck the opponent over. I was able to reproduce this as a kid easily but trying to remember how I did it I can not for the life of me do it again. It was a very simple pattern like spam the left wall then spam the right wall then just spam the middle. You pretty much had to try to kill yourself to get it.

I am hoping somewhere here would know what I did as a kid because it kinda just one of those memories that stuck with me and made me wonder if it was a feature or what.

Been playing the series for the first time via the old games included in Kirby's Dream Collection. Really liking it so far and it's actually fairly challenging; makes me sad to have not playing any of the games before now. Shinichi Shimomura tried to do this with KDL2, 3, and Kirby 64 (the Dark Matter Trilogy), but it seems to have been forgotten in modern times.

That dA link towards the top of the thread mentioned how the US is trying to avoid story, too. Apparently the villain in Canvas Curse was using Dark Matter's power or something.

I'm in love with itoki hana's stuff. Her style reminds me a bit of Kikuo's. The only issue I have is that her voice isn't the best, but the arrangements themselves make up for it.

The ones made by someotherguy are slower moving, but usually have absolutely awesome mechanics, like the animal friends, or the power combinations. The ones made by Sakurai are faster, have Meta Knight in them, and are usually more focused on "fun" if you take my meaning. Perhaps his feet are a different shade because when he forms them, he makes them denser than the rest of him. This would have several benefits. The denser material would be a more solid appendage to walk with. And when floating, the dense feet would gravitate to the bottom of him, making him self-righting.

i leave for a WHOLE 24 hours and this thread's suddenly lethal lava land.

u-uhh.. heh.. i think kirby wears shoes over his feet to protect him from rough terrain, but the dense feet thing makes an awful lot of sense..
what i wonder is how he manages to hold stuff in his mouth without it getting sucked into a black hole of nothingness. how does he swallow anything with no visible throat? i'd assume he has like some kinda expansive windpipe that leads into a vortex, and he keeps it contracted when not inhaling/holding something in his mouth.

wait actually scratch all that he probably just holds stuff
with his tounge..

tl;dr kirby's throat hole.. how does it work?!

If you're interested, someone has released an editor for Kirby's Dream Course. While not stable just yet, it does everything you need to do. I've been having fun with it making new courses to play on.

Your dates are way, way, way off. By 2004-05 (yes, that quickly) /v/ was a much faster board than current /vr/ by at least an order of magnitude in terms of thread creation, activity, and expiration. You had threads that would last into the next day regularly, plus the random multiple-day thread, but that wasn't the norm at all like /vr/ threads here and now, which last multiple days basically by default.

Current /vr/ is actually more comparable to the first year of /g/ 2.0. While we're off to a better start, I hope we never devolve as much as that board did.

Am I the only one who's saddened by when they became Rockstar North? As DMA, they made some technically impressive games. GTA3 comes to mind, how they managed to get that game running at 60FPS is mindboggling. As Rockstar North, the game's framerates started to drop and were being filled with tiny, silly glitches.

Had DMA and Nintendo worked out better together in the past, would GTA3 been on the GameCube?

Now you are the two month old Kirby thread. Do you hope people will mourn your passing as you mourned your predecessor?

We'll mourn the passing of the three month old thread by the time that happens.

I just started playing Crystal Shards. My brother saw me and commented that it's babby shit.

He will not make it through this night.

Shee-it, thread's so old that some of the sages are still visible.

So obviously he's either a Dream Land 3 man and thinks Crystal Shards is redundant or prefers the faster pace of Super Star

So, should we make a third thread after this hits the bump limit, or have we exhausted all possible discussion?

If anyone has something else to discuss then why not make a thread? Or maybe we could just have permanent Kirby general like they do with Doom.
I made this thread only because I thought of something I wanted to talk about and when I looked for the old one it was gone.

Kirby's Pinball Land is not only my favourite Kirby game, it is my favourite game of all time.
I fucking love that game. I don't even have my Game Boy anymore but I still have the cartridge.

So, how about that new Kirby game that's in the works?
