The design makes a bit more sense after taking into consideration that it was planned to have massive controllers that would affix on top of it for accurate arcade at home gameplay. So like you'd get flight sticks and steering wheels and use the console as the base. But since the thing flopped nothing ever came of it.

These Dell laptops, believe it or not, actually had mechanical keyboards. I had an Inspiron 8100 before upgrading to a Thinkpad T500, and I could never figure out why I preferred the Dell keyboard to the Thinkpad one. Years later I found out that they actually use some kind of low profile linear mechanical switch.

Ferrari are curved because they are aerodynamic. The only reason the N64 has all those unnecessary curves is so the controller doesn't look too out of place. They tried to match control and console for their previous gens and it worked. They dropped the ball here.
I like the controller even if 1/3 of it went unused. I hate the control deck, doesn't fit with any of the other consoles in my collection, not even nintendo ones

Gray is the best one, except it doesn’t have the SEGA logo on the facing front which is a huge loss. The blue accents are not a problem as it’s not an ugly contrast unless you specifically hate blue. The white one is a close second but it’s too sensitive to UV damage. Although I’ve seen pretty badly damaged Gray ones too. The damage on the white one is uglier. The black one, it’s okay, not my type. Usually I like the sleek minimalistic look but this kinda looks junky to me

Literally everything about the n64 is functional. It is totally flat like the board inside it except for one curve just to house the memory Pak . The ps2 came with empty unused space that went unused by the vast majority of players and the motherboard itself is bizarrely laid out so it can fit inside the ps2

Honestly, I agree. I actually prefer the US SNES and I'm not even a burger. Unpopular opinion I know but it's how I feel.

There's just something off about the SFC. It's oddly bulbous, the power switch ruins the symmetry of the design, the way the huge eject button juts out slightly irked me and I never liked it. I don't really like the colours on the console either, at least the US SNES has cool switches for Power/Reset in that Lavender purple, the SFC is just grey, dark grey and darker grey and they don't really fit well together. I also never liked how it just had a huge grey square in the middle. It's like they set a foundation for something and forget what that something was.

Love the controller though, the colours are great and everything is perfectly separated and uniform. Love it.

To be fair to the Gamecube, it's shape does lend itself to these kinds of variants better than most consoles do. It's already tailored for multicolored shells and the circle just looks like a decal.

I used to have the original stock T16 and that was the ugliest thing I've ever seen in my life. It was part of the reason I sold it, plus the games were pretty underwhelming to be honest. Now their value has absolutely skyrocketed (of course). The cd attachment was just the beginning of how ugly it could get. There was also a special RCA composite "slot" attachment, so you didn't have to us RF out/coaxial out- which looked like fucking garbage. So the attachment fit into this bizarre slot on the back, but then, if you bought the CD add-on, you took that thing out, and it was useless, because the CD add-on had component out. Their were several other addons, so its not exactly surprising that they didn't sell in North America.

Xbox low key has some of the nicest special editions of any console. People don't know this because we only got the ass ugly ones in the US but Japan got great designs.

Also the Japanese controller is low key better than the Controller S. They didn't just reverse import the same controller. The buttons are slightly different and feel better to the touch. You can tell the difference between the two by the center jewel.

The 360 did pretty decently in Japan. The OG Xbox had it's fans but it kept doing stupid shit like bringing games over completely in English with no translations even for the packaging. You'd just see the US game on the shelf with the only difference being a different region check on the disc. They were trying to be hyper Japanese for a time but was ignoring that the American games that might have stood a chance were given no shot at all.
