Nah, I stripped that out for consistency's sake. If I bring it back it'll just be a flat defense boost at all times while you're unarmed, but that's IF I bring it back. Right now the fists are kind of a step down from being armed with the sword, but I think this might be for the best.

You can make very simple Quake mods like say making the shotguns behave more like Doom's (slower rate of fire, more damage) instead of how they function now, but Quake just was never as big as Doom. It doesn't help that Arcane Dimensions as a modkit and mapkit is pretty much what most people want out of Quake anyway (more enemies, more weapons, more tricks for mappers, etc.) leading to a "why bother?" attitude. That's not a slur on AD btw AD is great.

I actually toyed with the idea at one point back in the day when Gmod first got the ability to mount HL Source content, got as far as developing a basic plot that centered around a self-insert new hire and her misadventures around the facility as she bounced around different departments, even made some custom assets for it but then my PC died bigly and took basically everything with it, and I lost all motivation for PC gaming for a good couple of years. I got one last thing. While you'll always have a fixed 100 Subweapon ammo, I've done some math shit through ACS to show exactly how many shots you get with each subweapon.
The plan here is the bar will slowly regenerate on its own after a few moments when you toss a subweapon, but if you run it down to 0 you'll have to wait for it fully recharge and reset.

I guess a good comparison would be Epona's carrots in OoT and how they regen.

Quake modding isn't modular at all outside of FTE - which nobody takes advantage of. While with Doom you can load up a million tiny gameplay wads on top of your favorite level set, with Quake it has to be either a massive mod with maps made specifically for it, or a single gameplay mod on vanilla maps.

If you made red/blue liquid balls as optional pointers for health and ammo it would be even more amazing. I also like how the middle part is uncovered so you can use the standard hud instead of the alternative speedrunner one and still see the whole weapon sprite, really good UI work. The revolver and gloved red hand is also kino aside from the weird outlined sight and barrel but that's probably WIP - generally Im creaming at your work anon

I'll never understand people who don't want save states in games. Have you never played a modern game that uses checkpoint systems? 99% of the time they fucking suck ass. The devs and the players are obviously going to have different skill levels. Shit, if the original Doom games had checkpoints instead of saves I bet they'd have stuck them right in the middle of the map, making it even easier how a lot of people play. Not to mention when you do the checkpoint thing, it's real easy to get stuck in a softlock or some shit and you can't just reload an earlier save. I've seen people have to replay entire games before because of that shit. Fuck off.

Not one checkpointer can explain to me why they don't just use the saves to create their own checkpoints. That all you have to do. Make a save at the beginning or end of a stage. Problem solved. If you feel the need to act like a twat and tell other people what to do, go become a discord janny.

Azure went ahead and compiled a SOC for SRB2Kart, the changes are as follows:

Gremlins certainly are unique and could have great potential for fucking with the player, but their movement speed is so slow and attacks so non-threatening that they don't get to do much before being blasted away.
The only time I've ever seen them used is as a bootleg archvile, being spawned in previous areas of the level so they can feast on corpses, but since this creates more gremlins and not whatever was killed, it's little more than tedious cleanup for the player.

I played Hellsinger and it was meh.Also there's something weird with rythm detection, as I and quite a few other people were hitting the beat just a bit too early, and it was fairly consistent too. While there is option for audio tweaking, there is no option to negative it, which is required to be in-tempo.

Yeah, I'm gonna make the POP have a rebounding effect, so you'll reflect projectiles and knock enemies up and away from you, then if you continue to hold it it'll just be a way to block projectiles.
It drains pretty quick while you hold it though, though blocking stuff doesn't deplete the meter faster.

Did it this way to save myself the potential ball-ache of tracking damage the shield receives. Though I still wish I could make it block melee attacks.

Once played the intro map for over the hour or so without getting gun yet. Then I had some irl problems, so I stopped playing for a while and basically forgot the whole Phobos. I should get back into it. But as for the mod, it's very professional. Story seemed better than on any commercial fps for years, and voice acting is very good. I've heard they've fixed Doom 3 combat so it's faster paced and has lot more monsters than in original, and guns ofc get buff too. Seems like interesting expansion. I was the kinda kid who would go medic in TFC and try to infect everyone near the spawn so that the enemy base would be a cacophany of groans and MEDIC. Even though realistically there were more useful things I could be doing.

Without going into too much detail, there are different color coded magic components tied to keys inputs, and depending on how you combine them you get different passive stats as well as spell choices. Basically you need to make small input combos to cast different spells. It could easily be adapted into a wad and I think it would be fun... but I see a problem with having all "weapons" (spells) from the beginning.
I suspect it works well in pvp arena matches but wouldn't work so much in a single player campaign game.

It just replaces the melee attack with the character's powerset, you still get to keep the guns. The game would be uncompletable if you didn't, there's a couple of bits where you have to put grenades down holes, and shootable switches don't respond to melee-only characters like Rogue. Also you need the flamethrower or the explosives to kill Iceman permanently, and you can't even damage the bosses without finishing the superweapon.

I like this response, it’s a solid take on how a third person camera could make a shooter better. A melee emphasis isn’t what I’m looking for, and besides: There’s plenty of great third person “melee” action games, not many Dark Messiah-likes.

Yes, but the resultant discussion about a tps theoretically being faster is almost entirely null and void. Max Payne 1 has some pretty wild fights in it because Max has slow motion, diving, weapons reload when diving, and all bullets/pellets are projectiles so the player can move more freely within gun fights. The third person camera almost does nothing except let Max look cool while killing shit. Vanquish had a dedicated dodge button, sliding, etc. where again the third person camera just lets Sam look cool.
tl;dr make the game good the camera almost doesn't matter at all in fps vs tps
