Pretty much all the Acclaim Simpsons games. The SNES ones deservedly get a lot of flak for their terrible, uh, stage select systems and a lot of unfun levels, but there some pretty good ones mixed in as well.

The NES games Bart vs. the World and Bart Meets Radioactive Man were my overall favorites for skipping that bullshit and just being fun platformers where you never knew what would come next.

I think I like this game for the fact that your character is such a bitch. Everything kills him, even harmless shit like drops of water. I think it's hilarious.

Despite what it says on the box this game is super bleak and depressing.

I don't know why I love it so much. Must be the atmosphere and the music.

I love the music in Batman Forever.

Spider-Man/X-Men: Arcade's Revenge. By all accounts it's a colossal turd, but I remember how cool it was being able to play as Spider-Man and Wolverine in the same game (kind of a big deal at the time). Plus, it has a god-tier soundtrack.

Are you talking about the Saturn version or the PC?

I've had the Saturn version since I was a kid and I've always loved it. Beats the pants off of Mario Kart any day. Just wish there were more courses.

Of course...I'm kind of a giant Saturnfag anyway.

I think a lot of it has to do with nostalgia but I played it recently and it's still a solid platformer with only very minor flaws.

Probably the first RPG I ever played before I knew it was a thing.
Playing it now I can see why it's so hated, it is quite awkward.

My cousin had it and we played the fuck out of it, we've beaten it at least twice. Last time I played was with my younger cousin and we finished about half of it.

>Did you beat the other one Vs the World too?

no. I rented it once or twice but IIRC never got that far. plus my cousin (who also lived right down the street from me) owned vsSpace Mutants so I had unlimited access to it and could play it as much as I want. I honestly really liked/like the game too, the first level (while being out of place hard) does an excellant job of capturing the humor from the early Simpsons. and the 3rd level, the carnival/fair level with the giant Krusty head was pure awesomeness.

I absolutely enjoy Castlevania 64. The atmosphere was amazing, first game to truly scare me. The controls were shitty as hell, no continuity at all, but the game has a charm about it that I love.
Sense it was there first try with a 3D Castlevania, I don't hold it against them for how it turned out.

>> No.940465

>>940304

The Konami beat em up is one of my all time favorites but Bart's Nightmare was really ambitious.and deserves more praise, despite the difficulty level. That's a pretty bad reason to hate a game. Once Konami made their game the bar was set for how a Simpsons game should be.

It's one of these games that had fuckloads of potential, and you can actually experience this potential while playing... And then they blew it, anyway.

Less - but stronger - enemies so you'd have some time exploring a dark, quiet, yet dangerous world, removing the 'Have to press a button to pick things up' idiocy, and the game would be decent. Better platforming - I'm not even demanding Mario 64-level perfection -, and it'd be genuinely great.

The pieces are all there, but they never managed to put the puzzle together. So sad.

>> No.940725

It's probably still better than the latest offering... key word being 'probably'.

I didn't bother completing that game because of how shitty it was and I haven't played the newest one.

This is really the only one I can think of right now. The controls are kack, and the levels are heavily reliant on memoriastion due to shit design and the stringent time limit, but it feels pretty satisfying memorising your way through and becoming really efficient at killing shit.
