Is ps1 the only 5th gen console that can do additive blending?

>> No.9398063

The N64 can/does use additive blending, but it doesn't clamp it, causing issues.

G-Police looks so good, it's really a shame about the draw distance.
If one wanted to make something akin to OpenLara for G-Police games, where should he start?

lol, you look poorly on 5th gen. The pile of garbage the ps1 was being the best to you shows how terrible 5th gen was.

But ps1 lacks as many great multiplayer games as 64. You would know this if you had friends.

It's truly great to have almost as many games as controller ports yeah

Code it from scratch, import assets from disc, Bob's your uncle.

I'd almost feel bad for 64 babies if they weren't so irredeemably retarded.

That bold use of color is one of the best traits of ps1 games. Colony wars looks stunning thanks to it. Ps1 graphics are so much more than pixelated textures and its best looking games compete with dreamcast titles.

GPolice 1 blew my mind back in the day.
I tried the 2nd one recently but the poor controls and sounddesign was too much for me to handle. Am I being a bitch?

From what I've seen only Mario Tennis, F-Zero X and Yoshi's Story have some kind of blending, still it's always with white in the middle of the glows.
Not having additive blending really hurt the visuals of the N64, it could help mask so much.

No, the first G-P is really better.

Aren't those flares and ball effects additive blending?

This doesn't look bad. I wish more n64 games had at least this implementation.

I've searched a lot but have no idea how they made this framebuffer effect for Mario Tennis, it's not great but better than alpha blending. Only know that Mario Tennis wasn't emulated for a long time due to these effects.

KI Gold could look closer to the arcade version.

I don't think these have anything to do with the frame buffer anon; though MT does use it for slowdowns iirc. Otherwise these effects look like additive blending alright.

The KI ones seem to be way uglier though.

KI2 arcade had no issues doing additive blending, it really improved the visuals but wiht the N64 they overlooked it for some reason, then again that's the story of the N64 hardware. Maybe some day they can translate alpha blending to addictive blending via emulation.

And make it 60 fps. Redraw distance really is pathetic.

It's white because it doesn't clamp the additive blending.

But is it BLENDING?!?!
