I have a professionally tested IQ of 134 and this game still stumped me multiple times

idk man, you sound pretty stupid to me

I'm a retard who's ruined his life, lol. IQ doesn't mean shit

>> No.9390404

>>9390335
So you are the fleshly proof IQ has nothing to do with how smart someone is. Someone should tell /pol/

>>9390335
Literally when and why, though?

>> No.9390415

>>9390335
By any chance are you an ESL? Because I can see you getting stumped on that one puzzle if they are.

>> No.9390465

>>9390415
Nope.

>>9390407
Tons of places, the spitting contest in particular comes to mind. How the fuck were you supposed to know to only spit when the girl in red's dress was slightly moving?

>> No.9390481

>>9390465
That was actual shit game design. Also not sure why they had to make the spit as disgusting as possible. One of the games that made me hate all Western games

>> No.9390486

>>9390465
Actually you're supposed to spit when you see the wind moving the flags

>> No.9390497

>>9390465
Fair. Now post two other examples and have a good case

>> No.9390598

The one puzzle that absolutely flabbergasted me as a kid was the password for the gambler’s club. Idk if it would’ve stumped me as an adult, but if I’d been playing it with someone else who hadn’t played the game and THEY figured it out, I would have A) had infinite respect for their intellect and B) had infinite envy for their intellect.

>t. unprofessionally diagnosed 124 IQ

>>9390465
>hmm, my spit isn't going far enough, if I could only increase its velocity...
>hmmm that womans dress, it moves due to the wind
>eureka, if I spit when the wind blows to the right it can carry my spit resulting in a greater velocity and it'd make it land further to the goal!

got me worried, planning to play these games for the first time. i might be clever, but i'm no genius.

That's fair, OP. I've never been able to figure out how to get on my boat in the first Monkey Island. I'm at 11 hours and I've just gone to every screen and clicked on everything. Blew all my money in the pop machine thinking maybe something else will happen.

It was this dumb thing Ron Gilbert did with his cousins

>> No.9390809

I was pretty stuck as a kid too, then I remembered that the game box came with a hint guide and got past it after that

>> No.9390865

>>9390607
It's not exactly relatable or realistic so you just look like a retard when you pretend it is

>> No.9390901

>>9390767
>a vague allusion to the spit puzzle's solution burred among tons of other irrelevant shit can be overheard in a conversation between NPCs on the complete other side of the island you would only be at if you were perusing a different part of the story
>this means the spit puzzle is intuitive
>a character hours earlier in a completely different part of the game orders a drink that happens to be green which he then spits on the wall
>this means the player can reasonably be expected to figure out he has to come back to the bar from hours earlier to mix blue and yellow drinks to match the color of that green drink from before whose color he probably didn't even notice at the time to win a contest, again, in a completely different part of the game
>a horn you pick up causes a blind man to fire a cannon when you blow on it
>this means the player can be expected to figure out he has to blow said horn at the spit contest, knowing the blind man (currently on a different screen) will still hear it and fire the cannon, which will cause the spectators to look in the distance
>the player should then realize he has to switch the flags around which look like they're part of the background art while the spectators are all standing RIGHT IN FRONT of him
>finally, because one of the spectator's dresses moves almost imperceptibly in the wind, the player should know to spit at precisely that moment so the wind can carry his spit further
You legitimately have to be a fucking rocket scientist to figure this shit out.

this game doesnt need high IQ, you just combine every item with every item and you'll get the solution.

you'd think high IQlets would have figured that one

You'd think at 134 IQ you'd realize that no amount of intelligence would help you make sense of a bizarre line of reasoning, like a MI2 puzzle.
