Would this design feel comfortable or is it just a meme?
Never owned sega, thinking about getting regular 6button or this. On one hand the bulkier one would probably fit grown up hands better but sega probably made regular 6 smaller for a reason. Saturn also continued with smaller design so im guessing the ergonomics were just better.
What version would you pick /vr/? How do ergonomics compare between original and 6 button controllers? Do you hold them differently?

If you need a sega controller get the m30 2.4 Ghz. It's one of the few examples of modern day progression actually improving something. I honestly consider it the perfect controller. Some people report it having a bad dpad but I think they just got a bad batch.

Kind of reminds me of this gamepad... which is an actual Genesis pad that I owned, because I wanted a second 6 button controller and could not find the official ones from Sega. Ended up settling on this third party pad.

>>9389093
>Would this design feel comfortable or is it just a meme?

A lot of genesis/ mega Drive owners prefer the 3 button pad over the 6 button pad, because of its size. I have owned like half a dozen 3 button pads, and they are larger and did feel good to use. Aside from the lack of buttons, the original style pads were generally great.

I know there is a 6 button variant on that pad. I found an image of it. many of the Genesis / mega Drive third party controllers had 3 additional turbo buttons, which made it a bit confusing when actually looking for 6 button gamepads. the one you showed is just the 'Power Pad" image related is the "Power Pad 6", which has A,B,C and X,Y,Z buttons.

You are probably right, but who else are making original controllers that have better quality control? Its such a niche market that its either retrobit with sega tax or aliexpress.
>>9389323
Im concerned that de9 version was made specifically for mega sg and since last batch of them is coming late next year its logical 8bitdo would restock it only then too.
>>9389692
Yeah, same, shipping to europe is usually $50+tax, with amazon its $20 including taxes.
>>9390410
Thanks for sharing. That does look more like the normal 6 button though. Im mostly interested in the difference in ergonomics of places where the base of your thumb rests.

Theory crafting follows.

In my opinion the original 3 button/big6 would kinda make you hold it with your wrists locked in and facing each other. Meanwhile normal sega 6button shape would probably be gripped with your wrists facing towards your body in a more natural, relaxed fashion. Given sega went with same grip design for saturn im concerned going back to the 3 button design is objectively worse but retrobit/sega are betting on nostalgia to milk the last cents from people that don't know better.

>>9389093
It's Retro-Bit's way of compromising to appease the six button crowd instead of just giving us a three button controller. Still better than the standard six button, but the buttons are probably not as big as the three button

Retrobit used to not suck, their original retro-trio that actually had a good sound chip was the best 3-in-1 hardware clone system until Hyperkin released their 3 in 1 HD version.

But they rode on that reputation hard. They now get shit chips from god knows where. Their controllers die after 2 years tops. Avoid.

It Will set you back $15, and you will be able to connect two controllers, you then just flash this:

There's much better code that runs on the same hardware. Literally pointless to use that.
There's much better code that runs on other (cheaper) hardware. That shouldn't be an issue, but when you're paying $15 for something that should cost you <$5 that's a big difference. You could allegedly buy another garbage controller for that $10 difference.
It rarely makes sense to solder anything to a dev board other than a connector. Have a look at the daemonbite site and see how he uses terminals on his arcade shit. That's doing it right.
Then see that he solders the module instead of using a socket. That's doing it wrong. This is how you can tell he's retarded. Retardation is contagious. Don't catch it.
