This show is definitely staged. They give him a vague hint on stage 1 and first try he finds the secret? It's very obscure and from what people have posted on this board in the past there's a pretty narrow range for where you have to be while shooting the 10th can to trigger the UFO. Calling bullshit on him just randomly doing it immediately. I'm sure they briefed him before shooting on how to do them all.

Yep. Though it took me a while to realize this. It dawned on me by the end of this one recurring segment where they were asking questions about vidya or some shit, and they were keeping scores, and Arino was doing pretty bad. Then, on the last question, they arbitrarily decide to give it a fuckhuge amount of points, enough to beat the other dude. And surprise, Arino gets it right.

I'm fine when shit is scripted, as long as it doesn't break the immersion. The result of Arino winning or losing doesnt matter to me so long as its not fucking blatant it was rigged.

You fags said that Derby Stallion was a boring episode with only the "Games are not for fun" as the only highlight. In contrast, it was a highly enjoyable episode:

>Arino wants to bet on the racetrack instead of raising a horse
>He bungles his first horse by going into bankrupsy almost immediately
>He creates a father-daughter incest horse right away
>Incest horse proceeds to win a G1
>The entire line of horses is bred from the incest horse

They intentionally space out "big" games like that so that they don't just front load the series with classics and then have nothing to look forward to. In the first few seasons, they had no idea the show would last long, so they did a mainline Mario game every single season. They blew through to Mario 64 in only a couple of years. Now they've had to go back and do the Mario Land titles to space out mario titles and will likely do Sunshine soon.

A lot of people don't have computers, I have some colleagues/old school friends who don't. Kind of rare for 4chan though.
Gotta remember most people don't do anything that requires a PC anymore, they just browse social media (apps) and watch streaming which can be done via the TV itself or the phone.
Anyway, I've got a backlog built up of GCCX episodes now, I'll check out Space Harrier next I think. I'm also motivated to play DKC2 sooner rather than later so I can watch that big fuck-off 3 parter.

Japanese comedy is a lot less about writing jokes and then performing them and a lot more about constantly going on TV and radio shows to make yourself be in the public eye, throwing out your catchphrases and making funny comments. He dropped all humor, looked right at the camera, and said "Shut up." Went right back to laughing afterwards, and even sent the guy the T-shirt prize instead of a business card. He finished the segment, but said they wouldn't do another one. Followed by a message from the staff saying "Due to circumstances, this segment has come to an end." If they want Treasure there's still a bunch of those games to challenge, which I hope they do over the next few years. Alien Soldier would be one of those tough as nails games harkening back to the most difficult platformers from the earlier era. Astro Boy would be a fun nostalgia trip for an anime fan, and Sin and Punishment would be a much better shooter to challenge. You don't watch Japanese television. You have no idea what you are talking about.
Production happens like on a large scale conveyor belt (granted, with idols and comedians). That would be appropriate criticism of Japanese TV.
