I had RM2K back in the day. Made a demo of a game called Dream Star which can still be found somewhere on the net. I have no doubt it's awful but I was atleast pretty big in the community. Also helped with ManaBat which got semi big on some sites.

So writers are supposed to explain every single mundane detail and the internal logic of their fake, constructed universes, even when irrelevant to the story? Any explanation would be just as arbitrary and made-up as no explanation at all anyway, and probably convoluted and pointless to boot.

The quote by Morrison here is not asking the reader to turn off his brain; it's about not reading too much into something where there's /nothing to read in to anyway/ and as a result missing the forest for the trees. There's no secret to Batman's tires that the writer is obscuring from the "goys" as you thoughtfully put it. Nobody is trying to convince you of anything; this isn't the government trying to sell you on a lie. You're not being tricked. There's a silent agreement between reader and writer that whatever happens makes sense within the setting and context of the story.

I remember using a free RPG maker system on my computer back in 2003. It gave you layouts from a top down perspective to make towns and such and the software came with a pre made game called tales of the 7 crystals or something. Is this the same RPG maker you guys are talking about? If so I remember showing all my friends and we were all hyped and then each just made 2 maps and couldn't get the other maps to connect so we gave up and that was that.
