This probably gets asked a lot here, but is it feasible for developers to make games today that look like this? Is the reason SGI-type renders from the 90s look so fucking cool because they were extensively post-edited and airbrushed? What is that makes them look so appealing?

They weren't that edited, I've looked at an SGI workstation manual/guide and the renders looked just like N64 covers. Anyway RTX might get close if anyone would bother with this style.
