Why did they never revisit the fact that Mario 64 was a live TV show in the other games?

There's still not a platformer with controls that precise. What's the other one, hat on a fag and yooka laylee? They both struggle to do what that game does. Bad camera? You can literally do whatever you want with it.

If you compare platformers to cars. Super Mario 64 is kind of like the first car from a company to win le mans. It changed everything, not just in it's own category but when you go back to it it's antiquated and clumsy by comparison, but fuck you if it isn't still good.

>> No.9275130

>>9273284
Nah its really mediocre
Way worse than most platformers of its gen

>> No.9275139

>>9273545
Yep. Horrible controls, and being unable to walk in a straight line because of the imprecise movement is made worse that the game has no checkpoints. Every time Mario decides to walk off an edge its back to the beginning of the stage. Frustrating to get punished for the devs incompetence.

>> No.9275142

Duh

Master pieces will stay master pieces. They'll still be master pieces in 100 years. This goes for other artistic products as well. The bullshit, even if it's famous, will be forgotten. The genuinely well crafted stuff, maybe yet undiscovered, will survive. No amount of salty contrarians on image boards can change these facts.

SM64 literally has unprecise controls and a MediEvil tier dogshit camera.
You obviously have not played classic Tomb Raider games if you think SM64 has the most precise controls. TR games your actions all have a specific standard distance they move you, and the world consists entirely of a 3D grid divided by equal cubes. So any time you fall, fail a jump, fail avoiding a trap, it was player mistake. Its literally impossible to die or fall because of bad luck or controls or anything like that. These are the only platforming games where the game does not make mistakes, only the player can.
In SM64 you will die from bullshit like the camera refusing to look in a direction you need to see, or walking off an edge or jumping off an edge because the only possible camera angles don't allow Mario to move directly across a platform but force him to move diagonally.

The only thing I find superior about Banjo is the ability to collect multiple thingamajiggies in a single go. World design wise, I will take Mario 64 every time. Banjo is superior in having more varied objectives though, I will give it that.

Late 90s was such a good time for you if you loved platforming and collecting shit, no matter what system you had. We didn't know how good we had that shit.
