Do you play non-retro games?
Why or why not?

I pretty much exclusively play Gen 7 and below.
I feel like new games are too overly designed and complicated or else just ads for DLC packs.

I've been gaming since the 2600 and current gen is the only gen I've skipped. Games are dog shit now.

if you ignore mobile it doesn't look like gaming has grown at all in like 30 years.

for me it's sixth and down, but prefer 4th more often that not.

I only play 5-6-7th gen, I lost all interest in 2D games in the late 90s and modern games are just fucking awful.

I like indie games, there's enough that remind me of fourth gen stuff I played as a kid.

Unless you're building your own engine nowadays it's pretty much a facade of complexity with modern games since it's so easy to do in Unity or similar. It's almost always just filler.
Honestly, everything modern was perfected by gen 7 and since then there's only been minor refinements, most of them for the worse.

Yeah, I do. Lots of good stuff nowadays, but I do think major releases are weak. I find a fair amount of fun smaller games though.

Once in a while, but mainly indie games. There's just nothing that really interests me from big studios.

I pretty much only play Fortnite on my PS4. I didn't expect it to go that way at all either. I had like DS3 and Bloodborne and then tried Fortnite and spent the next 5 years addicted to it, only playing like 5 other games in those 5 years.

Yes. I've enjoyed Cuphead, Sonic Mania, and SaGa Scarlet Grace. None-the-less there are spiritual successors out there like Super Mutant, Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon, among others. Do I tend to gravitate towards older games? Yes. Are all modern games the same so I can write them all off? No.

That was how I felt while downloading it in 2018
"I'll only play it for a week or something. I hate MP games"
The game is just fucking good, and btw I don't care about the cosmetics at all I'm just posting them for the lels

I play games that are good regardless of when they came out. I'm year-blind.

I have switch games but I’m trying to never buy one again and will definitely never buy a future console. Might get Zelda but it would have to be a big improvement over the last one. Haven’t had an Xbox since 360.

No. New video games are AIDS. Video Games used to be an alternative to movies and television, now they follow the same agenda and playbook. With outliers of course, the entire industry has regressed mechanically and visually.
I play a single new game (Dead by Daylight) with my little zoomer gf and the entire thing reminds me to love faggots and trannies every 10 seconds. One of the charms is called “Science Girl Issue 1” and you automatically get it, and it’s a little black girl drawn in crayon for the cover of a fake magazine. It’s the most pandering hilarious shit you have ever fucking seen.

I see a new retro rule in other forum:

a game or a system must be 16 years old to be retro.
