It's so blatantly made with the utmost laziness because they knew it would make money instantly but to me it's the last true good piece of DB media.

remember playing it, saw a video and the total lack of animations surprised me, searched for the iso and it weights 50 mb (around 15 of that is the intro )... it looks like a reskinned virtua fighter and its terrible

>> No.9257494

>>9257480
Looking like a reskinned VF is a stretch, considering how much earlier that game out and how much more technically advanced it is. Amazingly, DBFB used motion capture for its animations. Seems they just recorded a whole bank of them and just put them in the game wholesale with no regard for how any of it flowed together.

I've played a bootleg version of this game on Famiclone as a kid. Which wasn't actually this game at all, it was a port of Super Butouden 2 on SNES, but they've slapped an image of PS1 game on a cartridge cover.
Literally just a cheapest attempt to port a fighting game, completed with shitty music, but i'm still kind of... in a certain way fond of it.

I still don't know what the real game looks like but I guess it isn't much better.

I Like the Darker NES graphics on this game. Seems like an attempt at capitalizing on castlevania with a different title monster. Even though it sucks i do like a sword being the main weapon over a whip. the water dragon sprite is bad ass

Based. I've always felt that Frankenstein was a way better "horror platformer" than Castlevania. Its atmosphere outclasses Castlevania, which feels like a spry adventure compared to Frankenstein's darker setting, tone, and music.

Joust 2. I agree the "boss" fights are trash since it just involves flying into some targets, but the Pegasus form and the differing types of enemies helps add some strategy to Joust beyond just flying high up and doing dives on enemies. Just remember it was designed for people who had become experts at Joust and the difficulty is geared for that.

Might & Magic 2. Most people recommend that newcomers start with 3 or 4+5 and work their way forwards and completely skip the first two. 1 is pretty basic and rough around the edges, but 2 is a glorious broken mess. You can easily beat the game with a level 30 party using standard equipment and your starting stats. You can also enchant-grind your equipment to +63, push your stats to 255(except endurance which caps at 160-180 something then overflows back to 0), and push your levels into insane territory.

Wonder Boy in Monster Land. Gets ignored in favor of the later and more popular Wonder Boy titles. Many complain about the timer, others about the stupidly-short range of your attack. Still is a very fun game once you adjust to the short range of the attack. The only part that really sucks is the final level, which is a maze that is difficult to pass even if you know the route.

i wouldnt say i loved ghostbusters nes but i had it and played it a lot despite it being so repetitive and the stair section being impossible to beat as a kid without knowing the right things to buy and it taking so long to get money anyway. for me id say death duel on the genesis, this game honest to god sucked major ass but my friend and i would rent it a lot just because it had gore and we were edgelords. you could blow off your opponents limbs/head and thats why we loved it.

I didn't know Goonies 2 was considered bad. I haven't replayed it since it was contemporary so I can definitely imagine it's unplayable now. A lot of games with the ambition to be bigger and more permanent than an arcade game without being an actual RPG felt like a big deal back then, even if the experience wasn't really there yet objectively like Goonies 2, Simon's Quest, original Metroid, and people think they're shit now.
