>GoldenEye is officially coming soon to Xbox Game Pass, Rare has announced.

>Having previously been leaked via its achievement list, this new version has now been officially revealed, and has apparently been “faithfully recreated for Xbox consoles”. This includes achievements (as expected) as well as a 4K resolution, and a smoother framerate, even in split-screen local multiplayer.

>There's no official release date as of yet, but Rare says the game is “coming soon” to Xbox Game Pass. And it's worth noting that the official announcement trailer includes the Rare Replay logo in the corner, suggesting it might become part of Rare's compilation game.

>It's official! After months of speculation and waiting, Rare has finally confirmed that the GoldenEye 007 remaster is launching for Xbox consoles, and it will also join Xbox Game Pass.

>As most of you probably already know, we picked up the GoldenEye 007 achievements way back in January. Since then, we haven't heard a peep from Microsoft or Rare on the remaster until today, when it was finally unveiled during the latest Nintendo Direct. Rare then confirmed that GoldenEye 007 is coming to Xbox consoles.

>Unfortunately, no release date has been announced, but Rare has shared a few details about the game. Apparently, GoldenEye 007 has been "faithfully recreated for Xbox consoles," and it will feature achievements (we already knew about that one), 4K resolution, and "a smoother framerate even in split-screen local multiplayer."

>During the Nintendo Switch Direct, it was noted that GoldenEye 007 will also feature online play.

>GoldenEye 007 launches for Xbox console soon and will be included with Xbox Game Pass. How excited are you for this one? It's finally happening! Let us know your thoughts down in the comments.

Goldeneye isn’t as fun without an N64 controller and classic aiming/movement (1.2 Solitaire niggers where you at?).
MKB or true dualsticks makes it too easy. Same goes for perfect dark.
This is also too little too late, goldeneye is 25 years old (holy shit oh my god) and unless the online multiplayer is splitscreen on all player’s screens, it’s useless since most people who have nostalgia for this and care to play it have a million ways to do so already.
The time to release this was 2007-2010.

Controls are only “clunky” on a real N64 and is half the charm and fun of the game. You can play it right now with MKB using the project64 fork or the 360 leak with MKB or modern controller and it’s a completely different game.
>>9255662
NOLF was functional, but even the fan remaster is barely functional on modern PCs and has major problems. The only way to actually enjoy it is on a period correct system so it absolutely needs a remaster, more than anything else does, so yes I do hope it’s NOLF so we can get 1960’s go-go spy kino again. There is also a PS2 version but I’ve never played it.

stealth is completely broken in nolf and the game is desperate to get you to use it. lithtech also has substantial problems with angled geometry causing weird behavior. The Doom general is full of people who play with vertical mouse look, no autoaim, and through GZDoom which is far more forgiving hitboxes. Gatekeeping doesn’t work there and I can’t imagine it working any better in here for a console shooter, so at the most I hope they’ll be able to appreciate the often non-linear level and mission design.

Doom community agrees on nothing and never has and Doom shipped with mouselook contrary to what people believe. The game was designed around a performance and input baseline much different and more fluid than Goldeneye. Picrel from original mail order shareware manual.
Goldeneye was literally never designed to be played with MKB at 60fps and your point is moot whereas Doom was programmed to run on different hardware setups with different input methods depending on user preference from the get-go, long before sourceports.

If you are emulating with project64 MKB fork or emulating the Xbox version with new controller/MKB, you are literally experiencing a lesser version of the game and this is objectively true and can not be argued against.
The game was designed around and play tested running sub 20fps with a N64 controller. Every single mechanic in the game revolves around those limitations and in the center of these limitations is where the “soul” is found.

The people playing Doom the way you say they are play knowing that it isn’t the intended experience.
John Romero himself claims the true way to play doom is keyboard only no vertical aim but even that is just his opinion. He designed Sigil around those limitations and even tells people that’s how it should be played.
No, you can’t tell people to play Doom without vertical aim and you can’t tell people to not play Goldeneye with MKB because they do whatever is most “fun” (easy) to them, but you can tell them with certainty they are playing it “wrong” and not getting the “real experience” (of sitting your ass on a chair and playing a video game).
Goldeneye with MKB at 60fps is a different game, simple as.

Yeup, and they haven’t cared since ZDoom got popular in the early 2000s. If people want to play a game the wrong way you can either shitpost your lungs out, perpetuating the trend here of having any non-Doom thread on /vr/ be absolutely miserable, or just deal with it because they could give less of a fuck. You might even trigger them enough to post gameplay webms of it, sometimes inadvertently getting others on the “play as it wasn’t intended” train.

If you don’t sperg out about shit being played wrong, then over time the original intention of something fades away. Doom is actually guilty of this, it’s waves and waves of newer players over time started out on sourceports, so now these people have a warped perspective of how it’s “supposed” to be. It’s every single sperg’s duty to call shit out even if you don’t change the mind of a user. Doom is so ubiquitous and most of its current players base started off on zdoom/gzdoom that it actually has been lost in translation over time. It’s worth sperging out even for the thought to persist in the minds of naysayers.
