i mean, if you are looking for an exceedingly ambitious jrpg that is overflowing with lore, world-building, and has a plot that spans thousands of years, then no, nothing tops it.
but if you just are in the mood for oldschool Doom or something, obviously go look elsewhere.

I'm sorry to say it but no, Xenogears has everything and can't possibly be topped.

>love letter to every genre of mecha anime, including the gerbil crucifixion scene in reference to end of eva
>sick-ass multiplayer fighting game with shit-tons of characters
>began life as chrono trigger 2 and has more of its DNA than the actual sequel to chrono trigger
>80 hours with zero backtracking or dead space
>every playable supporting character gets their own incredible story arc
>isn't actually about what a lot of people think it's about, and subverts your expectations all the way up to the final minutes
