But did you actually manage to beat them?

>> No.9246895

Yes

>> No.9246908

>>9246893
No. Jank controls filtered me. LOVE the ost to tides of time.

>> No.9246913

Yes. But the level where you fight the Asterite in Ecco 1 took me awhile to get through it, what a pain in the ass. Both are excellent games.

>> No.9246939

I only had Tides of Time and as a kid I was too much of a brainlet to figure out what to do with the crystals near the beginning. But also loved the ost.

I am still working on the first one. They are pretty difficult.

>> No.9246997

I beat Ecco on the Game Gear and Ecco Defender of the Future on the Dreamcast.

>> No.9247003

Only had the first one, never was able to beat it.

>> No.9247013

>>9246893
Oh no, I've never played them. Sorry about that.

>> No.9247035

The GameGear one, and the Dreamcast one. Enjoyed both of them

>> No.9247419

Beat it on master system as a kid, it had passwords so I just beat little bits every weekend, the teradactyl was really cool. Now days it feels really annoying to beat games so slowly which causes some people to resort to savestates which is wrong. Back then it could take me 6 months or more to beat a game.

>>9246893
no i swam around and fucked around
all of us as kids did this and it was beautiful

>> No.9247426

Beat both of them. Tides when I was a kid, the first on emulator. Great games imo.

>> No.9247505

I've heard the CD version of 1 is easier.

Yes, eventually, after many years and completely memorizing every inch of The Machine

>Ecco 2
In like two days

>> No.9248096

>>9247505
Yeah they added checkpoints, I think including one at the end of The Machine which is a big fuck deal

>> No.9248112

>>9246893
I couldn't even beat the game gear version

The controls are perfect though.

Zoomer think if the character doesn’t instantly do what they imagine the game has “bad controls”

With sVestates.

My best gamer advice I ever got was to get dynamite headdy instead, which as a seven year old was the far better choice

Ecco is a good game, but it's not a "fun" game

why genesis boxes looked like cheap vhs boxes from china
if you compare to snes boxes which had layers of unboxing like you peeling it off slowly to get the cartridge it felt so premium quality

The definitive PC version has checkpoints, an easy mode (and hard mode), quicksaves, and much more.

I only owned 2 and beat it. Could hardly understand english at the time, so people have no excuse.
That ending was depressing as fuck

if I remember it would generate a random ass password every time you played and I didn't want to write down a new password anytime I wanted to get back to level two

Maybe one day. They are strange unique games that are pretty difficult. Tides has one of my favorite Genesis songs ever. The Genesis soundchip > snes one.
