Alpha 2 ran like trash on the SNES, had extra hardware on the cart, was made with paid man hours and corporate management, and wasn't nearly as demanding as Darkstalkers. Darkstalkers has larger sprites with more frames. There are FUNDAMENTAL things about the SNES that make it a bad fit for the system. The resolution the SNES runs at alone would rob the game of lots of detail. So even if you had some crazy, cheating-ass cart with extra memory, a coprocessor, and a larger ROM than any game of the SNES's heyday it would still look like compressed dog shit. Your stupid idea is fucking sucks and I'm tired of seeing you bring it up. Get that brain tumor excised or take your fucking meds to kill this weird fascination.

>Everything. Any newcomers player should introduce Darkstalkers.
Okay so you want everyone to play it if I'm understanding your ESL word salad correctly.
Darkstalkers can be easily enjoyed, uncompromised, by anyone as is and in far less baroque ways than an SNES homebrew. I don't see why you want this particular game to be poorly forced on to an ill-fitting platform.

Super Metroid Legacy is an ancient Super Metroid romhack without gimmicky stuff, but it's pretty good, not really janky and it has about the same difficulty as the original or just a little more while having a whole new map to explore. There's at least a few romhacks out there for SM that are not just stupid challenge hacks, shit that requires tricks all the way or minor additions. Even Project Base which is just basically an enhanced version of the original is worth giving a playthrough (and it's what's used for Hyper Metroid which is also great)

It is, by far, the best SM hack I've ever played (and I've played dozens). All the new mechanics and items are perfectly executed without feeling gimicky. The new enemies, too, especially the third Chozo statue thing. I love the fact that they gave the grappling beam another purpose so that it continues its usefulness even after getting the space jump.
What I love most of all, though, is that the landscape changes during the last hour or so of gameplay due to actions you took during the game.
The only problem is I can't figger out how tf to save the animals. I can't even find the three wall-jumping thing during the planetary kaboom sequence, never mind save them, and the alien ostrich thing is stuck behind a gate I can't open. Actually, maybe they're behind the gate, too, and I just never noticed them. I'll replay and take a better look.

What're y'alls gametime and percentages? 100% on both log entries and items and 9hr something game time on my first playthrough. I am not a speedrunner, but considering the makers said the game would take 8-12 hours to finish blind, I'm happy with my time.

G'luck, but even if you don't figure it out, no worries cuz this second quest ain't so great.
The map's the same, but shit's moved about. You get the screw attack before you get the bombs, for example.
Also, I think it's broken. After getting the bombs, there's nowhere to go, at least not so far as I can tell.
No suit so I can't travel in water.
No super missiles or bombs so I can't open green or orange doors (I know where the super missiles are, but I need super bombs to get to them).
No wave beam, so I can't open closed gates.
I can get the metroid suit and super missiles through exploits/glitching (i can get the missiles within the first two minutes of starting the second quest) but it doesn't seem like this playthrough is meant to be played that way since getting the super missiles but not having the aqua suit can put the game into a soft lock if you open a green door into a water area and can't jump back out again.
I don't see any consquences to glitching the map to get the metroid suit but since it can be had within 30 minutes of starting the game, I would think that goes counter to normal play.
I'll tinker about with it a bit more to see if there's anything I've missed but as it stands, the second quest seems unwinnable after only about 20% into the game.

You can watch an emulator execute assembly all day in a step through debugger, the tough part is figuring out what the hell the code is doing relative to the game.
> game rather than decompile a game
If you want to restore a game back to a higher level language, such as C, that is another order of magnitude of work figuring out how a C compiler chopped up the code into assembly, undoing/restoring that, and THEN figuring out what the hell the code is doing relative to the game.

They can maybe recognize some macro instructions of other, decade(s) old assembler, like folding 20 asm instructions into 3 pseudo-instructions. It's barely useful because generally you don't want disassembly (a list of instructions) in the first place, you want (the closest approximation of) the source code, and that is produced by decompilers. The best that decompiler can give you is pic related. No software can figure out that this was something like IsUndeadInParty(*party) in the source code.

Hi, guy who posted Mega 3D Noah's Ark here, I definitely recommend that you play the PC version using LZWolf and the Wolf 3D Demolition mod, it'll make the game more fun because of how absurd it is for Noah to be slaughtering the animals instead of putting them to sleep with food

And no shit SPF could have worked it's not dealing with fuckhuge sprites with tons of frames.

>that VN
The most unforgettable horror porn game I've ever played. No other game had a bunch of elementary schoolers gangbang a teenage girl against a wall. And the teenage girl loved it. No other game I've played had a 17 year old bishonen guy drink a 14 year old girl's piss and chase her down the hall to rape her, only to wind up getting anally raped by a 32 year old fat man. I still remember the scene where a 16-17 girl was hiding under a bed as her same age best friend was having sex with that same 32 year old fat guy on top. She heard every moan, bed shake and sound. In the wrong end she was discovered under the bed by her friend and made to join. A most terrifying scene was when an unwilling girl relives another girl's sex memories. The girl in the memory consented but the reliving girl didn't. It didn't matter that she was mentally screaming, her body in the memory did all the motions and actions as in history. It's like mind control rape except the victim was fully aware. Another scene the same girl and a friend were almost raped in a magic sex ritual, saved by the girl's older sister, and the backlash made the older sister want to rape her younger sister and friend.

The loli in this pic is freakishly lewd and once disguised herself as a teenage girl, fucked a boy until he nearly came, transformed back saying
>You thought you were having sex with a highschooler weren't you? I'm an elementary schooler all along!
And leglocks that boy, forcing him to cum inside her unprotected, when he screams in fear upon learning this. This isn't even getting into the tentacles, the gay sex, the lesbian sex, the incest, the sequel's mother/daughter lesbian scene, etc. The first chapter alone contains lots of lesbian sex scenes with an unavoidable girl masturbating in the bathroom. Truly horror is intrinsically connected with sexuality.

So after playing through everything that 0.7 has to offer and 1.0 being quite a ways away, I kinda wanna play through some older versions to see how it has changed
Does anyone have a link to the 0.4 patch? It was the first publically released version, but since 0.7, the creator took it down, refuses to give it up since he considers it an old shame, and I can't seem to find it ANYWHERE else on the internet.

Does anyone know what things on this list are actual hacks that randomize themselves and not the things that generate "seeds" by shitting out over 9,000 ROMs? I know of Super Metroid Arcade, Super Gachatroid, Rockman 2/3/4/5 Endless and the Mega Man 6 Weapon Randomizer, but I'm not sure what else.

Rockman 4 Minus Infinity is still the best hack of all time. Nothing more to say.

Paper Mario Black Pit is up there too despite being a Pit of 100 Trials roguelite written by an ESL. It's a labor of love that makes you wonder what's at the bottom of the pits and then actually delivers once you get there. I mean it backported Stylish moves from TTYD for god's sake

Extra Mario Bros. is still fucking amazing but I can't recommend it to anyone without giant brass balls because it combines the platforming difficulty of SMB with the navigational difficulty of Metroid. I've never loved something so much I was so close to quitting early on out of frustration.

My list gets fuzzy after that. Super Metroid: Subversion probably deserves to be up there somewhere, Star Road ain't bad, fun little hacks like Peach's Fury or Sonic Boom are worth a mention, lots of solid Mega Man hacks like Rockman 5 Air Sliding would get more attention if R4MI weren't so great, there's cool buggy gimmick hacks like Portal 3 64 worth fucking around with, and finally my secret favorite Sonic 1 Megahack: Ultra Edition

The second game (Hany on the Road) canonizes it as "Hany" (see the options menu in that game), as it's a play on both the words haniwa and honey (as the name of the second player in Road is "Lemon")
