Recommend me some comfy/relaxing games to beat next. I just completed Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee and while technically a great game, its trial and error bullshit and very high difficulty made me stressed and annoyed.
Anything 3rd to 6th gen goes, except Saturn exclusives, I don't have that yet.

I enjoy playing Actraiser when I'm not feeling well. The simple gameplay loops and freedom to go at my own paces is very relaxing to me.

Simcity 3000 is pretty damn comfy and easygoing. Go pirate the patched version with the expansion from GOG, and then make yourself a small and comfy little town.

Milon 2 on the SNES. Plays great, on the easy side, comfy, cute and surreal. Music is particularly beautiful. Also any adventure games on DOS. Monkey Island 1 and 2 are pretty perfect summer night games.

Have you tried Ristar?
I remember it being pretty comfy but I can't remember if it gets ballbusting by the end or not.

Harvest Moon. I liked 64 a lot because of the aesthetics but all of them are pretty solid. Tetris is a good one too, you can just zone out and move blocks. 2d Zelda because you can just wander around dicking with the world for most of your playthrough, maybe not the nes ones but alttp and la are pretty relaxing. Bust a Move/Puzzle Bobble is another good one if you like Tetris but find it too stressful. Or Civ on a lower difficulty, any 4x game really where you can play on a difficulty where you don't need to manage every little thing, and Civ is turned based so you have unlimited time to make decisions.

This is what Indiana Jones 4 should have had as its main plot point. Fate of Atlantis or the Search for Mu, not the haphazardly handled Crystal skull kingdom foppish WTFery.

I heard that MOTHER 1 on the Famicom is more dark and Mature in its overall story compared to Mother 2/Earthbound, save for the latter's depiction of Gyiyg at the end of the latter having gone fucking insane and turned into a red cosmic nightmare being.

In some ways, but the game, including the story, is also more barebones. For this series, you'll need some patience for old fashioned jarpig grinding, ala Dragon Quest (or cheat a little, it's not like you're missing out on some kind of intense challenge or strategic genius here), and for Earthbound I feel at one point the story decides it has to wrap things up and that it hurries to do so, like the pace accelerates, and it's not quite as good by that part.
For "Earthbound Zero", the world of the game is quite huge, but there's extremely little content for all of this surface area. You can stray away and explore from the main paths but there's basically never anything there to find and do, it's empty space and random encounters. Earthbound, in contrast, is a lot more focused, not having these huge voids of content. I guess it helps makes the world feel bigger, having to traverse all this countryside (and I know they have to contend with cartridge space and stuff), but it's so very disappointing that there's little more than your target destinations when there looks like there really could be so much more.

Overall, the games aren't perfect, and are maybe overrated, but they have a charming and quirky world which is fun, and it helps make up for a lot of the shortcomings. If you go in with tempered expectations it's pretty enjoyable, if you like quirky shit. Mother 3 takes itself a lot more seriously, for better or worse, but it also has far more in terms of characters and their interactions.

Mother 1 is very very grindy and tedious in that JRPG sense. However I have never played it myself I have only heard such things.
EarthBound doesn't have too much grinding in it. Early game is kinda tough because you don't understand the combat system so well and obviously don't have the good abilities or a full party yet, but it's never frustrating like so many other games can be.

road trip adventure is an amazing game, nothing better than exploring the towns with the game's radio playing. i also played through the sequel recently, gadget racers. although that one isn't as focused on exploring as much as road trip, it's still loads of fun and was a great playthrough.
