Why is pic related not available for digital? Ubisoft still offers all the other RS games except this one.

Also, tacticool FPS general thread

played this on dreamcast for 5 minutes, don't remember having an opinion on it. Then I put in the next pirated CD the Dreamcast came with

Just download Rainbow Six Black Ops.

https://www.moddb.com/mods/rainbow-six-black-ops-20/downloads

It combines the first and second game and all of their expansions into one game. Can even be played coop with private simulated-LAN programs. There is some slight differences, it's not a one-to-one recreation, but it's nearly 97% accurate in levels and gameplay.

Operation flashpoint mogs any retro tactic FPS ever.

Operation Flashpoint is great in terms of large-scale warfare, but in regards to using close-quarters tactics and simulating small-team missions, it's dog shit. It works best when you're using trucks and tanks to drive to and from the war-front while providing cover fire from half a mile away and then getting sniped by some chuckle-fuck you didn't see because the map is so huge.

But for someone who wants to meticulously plan, use a multitude of items and gadgets, simulate a breach into an enclosed environment, or achieve small-scale operations like rescuing hostages, defusing bombs, assassinating key individuals, or installing bugs, Tactical FPS's are the only choice.

Hideous Destructor is one of the options, turning Doom into a tacticool FPS. It makes Doom about as realistic and methodical as possible while also still actually having all the wild supernatural and sci-fi stuff, while still letting you go guns blazing if you've got the balls to do it/if you're suitably equipped.
Weapons and inventory are managed with an optional/adjustable weight/bulk system, where magazines need to be loaded with cartridges. Wounds involve bleeding as well as crippling injuries, sci-fi medical science can do a lot but if you're completely fucked up, the only recourse available is if you can find some sort of magical source of healing.

Enemies involve zombies with guns, traitor marines with guns, as well as the classic rogue's gallery of demonic horrors, all revamped to fit the gameplay. Being upgraded to behave and attack in smarter and more insidious ways, with the idea being to make them realistically dangerous and vicious, with all kinds of mean tricks up their proverbial sleeves.

Of course, the player has his own mean tricks. Hand grenades which can be thrown or set up with trip wires, automated sentry guns, little floor drones with pistols (which can be remote controlled manually or set to patrol), High Explosive Anti Tank rockets which can not just annihilate a boss with a square shot, but eliminate a locked door or barrier. Rope ladders, jetpacks, remote explosive charges, and whatever magic you can acquire, good or bad.

All of this with Doom's level design, or whatever Doom level set you think would fit.

You’d know this isn’t true if you ever played the spec ops missions that the game provides

the dreamcast versions were weird and awesome because they were the exact same as the pc game, nothing was cut out, kind of weird that they had enough trust in console players to offer the proper tacticool experience back then but not with the later console r6 games but then you realize thats because trying to play a 90s pc tactical shooter with a controller is bad even if you get 2 analog sticks because your reaction time is cut in half but i think you could live with it honestly

I enjoyed Rogue Spear back in the day but it was always a little janky. Even the best, most carefully planned mission could end in total loss if a single bad guy got lucky. The AI teammates just weren't good enough to survive. I always ended up ignoring the planning phase and soloing everything instead. And even that was annoying sometimes because the enemies had unrealistically good reflexes.

I agree that the AI was ridiculous. Enemies would shoot with 100% accuracy from across the map the moment they spotted you. The best planned missions were still left to pure luck.
