it satisfies a certain repetitive autism that my brain enjoys but it's not challenging enough. at a certain point in every stage you've basically already won (you have too many units and resources for your opponent to catch up) but you still have to spend an annoying amount of time going through the motions to achieve a proper victory
after this ill have played every one of the wars series except the gameboy titles, and i don't know that ill ever return

Now playing Area 88/UN Squadron. This final level is fucking demanding. I'm not sure how to beat it without grinding for the final plane and buying all the useful weapons to cover me during the up and down scrolling parts of the stage.

Ogre Battle. I hated it at first but it's grown on me a lot. So many systems working together, there's a lot going on that makes it interesting to me. Plus I just love the setting and the character designs.

Only thing I still dislike about it is the enemy unit spawn rate. It's good for farming drops but it can be pretty distracting when you're getting yanked into a battle every 2 seconds because the enemy is throwing a congo line at the death squad you parked outside their castle. Looking forward to 64 and LUCT, though.

This artist makes a lot of fake retro images to sell to 20 year old retro junkies who are nostalgic for a time they never lived in. At the expense of accuracy the goal is to cram in as many easily recognizable 80s and and 90s references as they possibly can. The people who buy his art don’t know it is all wrong, they just want to be smug and act like the guy from ready player one. “I’m something of a walking 80s encyclopedia myself….”

Im 38 and my room was kinda like that. I was obsessed with movies and tech back then. I would just slap every poster or cut out a character from a magazine and glue them to the wall lol.
Also just pose cool toys or walkman/other stuff without using them.
It wasnt this colorful but it's close.

I assume zoomers/doomers would find this "cringe and unnacurate" lmao.

The posters are what are the most wrong though. What you described is legit, I did the same but that is not what the artist draws. We had thumb tacks or that blue shit for our magazine clippings and they didn’t look like this. Everything on the wall is modern Etsy stuff. It is the wrong size, framed in modern frames, and a lot of his other retro art contains a mix of famicom, EU and other art not found in NA, but commonly used by Etsy resellers who google the game name and slap it in.

Magazines didn’t just have full page cover art as depicted here. The marketing team may use the game cover in part of the ad but it is accompanied by screen shots and product descriptions, and large white slogans. Even the fold out posters were rarely just the games box art.

This is a lot more correct. The tv is 1998/1999 model vcr combo, which matches spice world and space jam timeline. 90210 wrapped up in 2000. The nirvana poster is a real one sold at the time at HMV, etc and not a modern bootleg. Thumbtacks are visible, and no black poster frames from hobby lobby.

New kids on the block seems a decade late though. 1990 is wrong half of the decade and a half lifetime ago for a teen. Not impossible but seems the most out of place.

How often do you buy new bedsheets/bedding? As an adult I have some sheets in my rotation that are a decade old.
I'd say it's entirely realistic for a teen in any timeframe to have a few throwback items they held onto from their childhood or in the case of a workingclass family the same bedsheets from years prior.
