I see current consoles and most of the good games are on PC anyways. Why the fuck would I shell out hundreds of dollars for some crap console that has very few exclusives that I care about? I'll take a homebrewed Wii over any current console any day because I have a decent enough computer to handle current games on it without having to shell out more money for a crappy computer disguised as a console.

As this anon said emulation beyond the SNES is a mixed bag. You have Virtual Console ports which ease the pain a bit but that's it.
Beyond that the GC/Wii library is a big draw for me personally.

Yeah thats the big flaw is 5th gen is entirely missing, if it ran PSX and N64 games well it would be a perfect solution for me. Maybe if anyone ever ports Duckstation to Wii it'll get decent PSX emulation but for now its just a really good cheap way to emulate the 2D gens on a CRT with component out.

I also really hate playing the N64 Virtual Console games because the stick sensitivity is way off. Try playing Star Fox you cant aim for shit

with mods to the older systems you can get 1080p etc.
Otherwise you might as well just be using a retropie since you're still emulating. Wii can't do savestates or scanlines either.

Its not great for 5th gen and even GBA, but before? It's pretty good, especially because again, games can run at 240p. Its the best emubox for CRT owners.
Plus if you want you can just hook up component cables to it later on and GC games in 480p for much less than any of the GC Video solutions, good as they are.

The only flaw I ever had with the GBA is that the game looks messy on the big screen due to stretching. Which is obviously going to happen regardless of anything else.
Also it's good for emulating Gamecube games. I played both GC Pikmin games on my hacked game via roms without any real issue.

I use it for some stuff, I got a mister now though so it’s becoming obsolete for retro for me. Still useful for GameCube however. Wii is no good for n64 though, Just use original hardware
