about to play pic related and then play Terranigmawhat am I in for? I've never played either one, decided to give them a try since im tired of playing square rpg's
>>9151642if you die in either game then you die in real life, so be careful about that - most emulators DO recreate this feature accurately
>>9151642An enjoyable, albeit linear game. It's not a world of fantasy like the spiritual prequel Soul Blazer (same developer team. You should play that one someday), instead it's based on ancient cultures and the exploration of ruins.Overall, it's more puzzle-driven than the other games but it's a great experience.
>>9151642Me too, but I am wondering if I should play Soul Blazer as well
>>9151687OP here, yes play it, you should play it first. iv already finished it so ill go straight to gaia
>>9151659I smell a shitty anime coming...
>>9151642>what am I in for? To not find the bonus area without a guide.
>>9151642Just play the game, you don't need to pre-blog about it here.
Play Soul Blazer first.
>>9151642>>9151687Play the fucking games then make a thread.
A generic, milquetoast game you will forget all about as soon as you're done with it. Play something original like Bushi Seiryūden instead.
>>9151689Did you play Actraiser first? What did you think of it?
>>9151994>>9152150This. You don't need people to tell you all the tricks and how to beat the game and what to think before you play it.
>>9151642Gaia is far superior. Terranigma is just a retread of the themes and gameplay that was done far better in the other games, and it was made by a different team. It has really inconsistent graphics (opening town looks lovely, the rest of it looks shit), and the music is dreary, Puzzles/combat is pretty bad in it too.PS - The original team made Actraiser/Soul Blazer/Gaia and Robotrek.
>>9151687Some of the music was good, most of the music in that game sucks bowels
>>9151687The only real connection is the secret boss of IoG and the use of phoenix magic, it's still a nice game although the weakest in the saga.
>>9151978Fuck you I forgot about this. Hamlet, why???
>>9151642>im tired of playing square rpg'show is this possible
>>9151659>JOEY! IF YOU LOSE. THE GAME. YOU LOSE. YOUR SOUL!
>>9155756Didn't like all the friends die? But it was okay because they all reincarnated in Jpaan
>>9154530I don't understad why the song in the first island turns into that anxiety inducing mess at the end of the loop. Just started the snow zone the music is nice, it was also good for the seabed portion.>>9151642I also got them after lurking in /x/ the other day, started with Soul Blazer and it's fun.
Ah it's been a while for me to be honest. I enjoyed the recorder (or whatever instrument) song that they used. And then the final boss song was pretty good. But yeah, some of the music is soo bad. Same applies for soul blazer and terranigma.
>>9157042No. In fact, only one of the friends dies, which is why only he out of your friend group plus hamlet of course shows up at the top of the tower of Babel. All of them get 'reborn' at the end due to the earth reverting to its original, i.e. untampered by the comet, state >>9151642It's certainly a nice game to play or watch an LP of for the Story. Gameplay didn't age as well as Terranigma's though, but it's still servicable and made up for by the amount of soul quintet put into this game as well as their other games. If you want to play it completely blind, just go ahead and have fun. If you want to 100% it, Get a list of the 50 red jewels in order to get to the secret dungeon
>>9159697I actually prefer IoG's combat over Terranigma's, I feel like the abilities you get are better utilized than the movset in Terranigma.
>>9159816No anon you're confused. That's the game that came out before this one.
>>9159803The abilities are better used on some puzzles, as in having the level design require you to use ranged abilities or special movement options, that's true. In Terranigma, you start out with basically everything you have for the rest of the game move-wise, so there's no excitement in getting new abilities. But Terranigma's combat feels more fluid in a way.
>>9159826See now after having played through the game for like a third time a few years back, I started to realize most of the moves you get are either way too situational or are ultimately not worth your time. The rapid stab attack doesn't have much in the way of knockback and the DPS it provides isn't worth standing still to perform it, the dash lunge is outclassed by the aerial dash/slide thing, blocking is pretty much irrelevant until the final battle. And of course the Magirok system is locked out in most fights, so I pretty much forgot about it.Ark does control a little more fluidly than Will though. I can't deny that. Also the true big brain shit is realizing Will is actually the best combat form compared to Freedan or even Shadow because of his insanely overpowered jump attack.
Terranigma is a 10/10. Maybe the best ARPG of the era. Enjoy it and pay attention to the story, it's worth it.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9NFmgQqLmSo&ab_channel=dinges666One of the best songs on SNES. Still hum it at work sometimes.
>>9151946yeah, you'll manage to find most of the red gems, but a few of them are absolute bullshit and aren't in chest and are missable. Use a guide
>>9154379Finally someone who recognizes Terranigmas obvious flaws and that Gaia is clearly superior.
