I thought of measuring his popularity through using game sales in Japan as a measure of how many people are actually into vidya over there, but since GCCX is a retro game show, it wouldn't really be that accurate, since I imagine a lot of people wouldn't be into it.

Let me tell you what's wrong with amazon when you live in brazil. Brazil has a system that your things coming from outside can be stopped and taxed, especially with things above 50 dollars. That's why most brazillians ask to mark it lower than 50 when buying on ebay and likes.

Now, Amazon makes you pre-pay thoses taxes so it won't get taxed, even though it's completely random if you get taxed or not. You know the RGM DVD, right? 50 dolllars? They added 100 because of those taxes. I went to ebay and bought the same DVD for 25 dollars with a coupon and got it here without getting taxed.

the problem with youtube GCCX uploads is that they last a couple of weeks, then they get copyright-violation-take-down'd by fuji tv. apparently they don't want Japanese people having easy, free access to the show, and they're supposed to have some shitty online VOD solution for gccx instead.

dailymotion doesn't seem to be an issue for fuji, and DM doesn't seem to give a fuck about copyright anyway though, that's why it's become a quasi-reliable repository for GCCX subs, unfortunate video quality notwitstanding.

and torrents being bloated? man, you need to watch the kachou in glorious HD and without online streaming compression artifacts... night and day compared to watching streams. I do understand you if local storage is an issue, though, I used to be in your same boat last year. GamingCX on youtube all day erry day.

The content of shows like that doesn't matter, it's just a vehicle to deliver the celebrities on it to fans, who watch it in huge numbers. Most of the foreign dramas are on subscription satellite channels.

There are some good shows, like the above mentioned 'Live on $100 for a Month' challenge, Dash Island (where they're trying to develop infrastructure/survive on an uninhabited island), Hoko x Tate (Spear vs. Shield), where two items (say, a case that can survive anything meets a shredder that can shred anything) are pitted against each other, "Secrets of Japan's Prefectures" where they show off regional foods, etc (Kan produces this show as well), but yes, a lot of T.V. is pure crap, same as other countries.

There's a lot of things that are tougher, really. Even getting together a complete collection of all chapters and OVA episodes of The Legend of Koizumi was more work, TBH, and that had a fairly centralized collection of the mangas available.

I've been worried a bit by his recent posts about how shitty his life is right now and how he has no real motivation to sub anymore. Sounded a bit serious.

>What is a GnT?
Gaki no Tsukai.
People use that as a general reference to things done by the groups Downtown, Cocorico and Tsukitei (formerly known as Yamazaki) Hosei.
It's a thing that most GCCX fans catch up to once they get into japanese comedy through Arino.
They're most commonly known by the "Batsu game" they do every new year's eve. Pic related.

13 - Tokimeki Memorial
12 - Takeshi's castle (out of shape Arino excercising is funny)
25 - The feudal lords' ambition : Quiz (love the staff interaction here)
107 - Paris Dakar Rally special (that game is just WTF)

Bubbling under, I've always liked Mega Man 3 (82), Bio Miracle (44) and all the Ghouls'n'ghosts episodes. But really, there are only a few episodes I don't enjoy watching again. Bad news - I wasn't able to finish the Ikki script.
Good news - I did manage to finish about half of it.
Bad news - I'll be super busy still next Monday, at the earliest.
Good news - I should have time to edit during this week.

So, here's a link to the first twenty minutes of Ikki

http://pastebin.com/MywdvvN2

Please read the editing rules before suggesting changes.

Also, as this is a more complex project than before, here are a few other notes:

- Lines said by multiple people without a space between them should be stacked in the order they appear from top to bottom.
- One line break without indicating a new person speaking is where the subs should be cut.
- Difficult timing is indicated in italicized text.
- Notes are in bold text.

I should be able to coordinate the edits over the next week, so please try to make suggestions by 12:00 noon next Tuesday JST. I hope I can get even a quarter of what's left by then.

In English, it's correct to put a comma between the day and the year.

>If a system got a different name in different Western countries, which do we go by? It's a difficult question, opinions?
In general, I would use the North American name, since it's the largest English-speaking market. As I mentioned above, you could put the Japanese (or other) name in parentheses when it's first mentioned.

I think that in regards to Megadrive, it's an easy choice as it's not a case of Japanese naming vs Western naming, it's literally a case of every single country in the world apart from America calls it Megadrive, so its an easy decision in my view.

The other systems are trickier, but I would lean towards going with the Japanese names, with the western name given in parenthesis after the first mention.

It looks like Abunai removed the spaces when subtitling, making them look better. SA always uses three straight dots without spaces between them. At the start of a pause, they usually attach an ellipsis to the preceding word and follow it with a single space before the next word. I think the ellipsis things will be hammered out as we make more releases and people chime in as to what they think looks better in a video, especially in a more complicated release. Deinterlacing takes about 2 fields and the upscaling and filtering could take 1 to 3 fields.

So with the NTSC field frequency of 60hz
3 * 16,66 ms = 49,99 ms
5 * 16,66 ms = 83,33 ms

And before you ask:
1. Every modern progressive LCD/Plasma television deinterlaces the signal whatever its is interlaced or not.
2. Upscaling and filtering does not happen instantaneous.
3. Do not confuse input lag with response time

Two shorter revenge episodes of The Genji and the Heike Clans as well as Legend of the Mystical Ninja from this threads resident fansubbers.

I agree. This comes up far too many times in the script to point out all of them, but they should be Stage 1, Stage 2, etc. when used as titles. If it just says "this stage" or "a bonus stage" or something similar without declaring it as a title, it should stay as it is without capitalization.

It might be best just to keep the humor on a single level and translate it as 'uprising' for this line. Putting 'uprising' in quotes may also help.

I'm stepping back a bit to reevaluate something which I haven't bothered to correct until now. Words starting with 're' (like reevaluate) should only contain hyphens when absolutely needed for clarity. For instance, resign and re-sign can have drastically different meanings. In cases like refocus and reappear, the words are clear and correct without hyphens. Even with an unusual prefix pairing like rechallenge, the hyphen really isn't needed. I would suggest leaving all of them out to maintain a consistent appearance throughout the script, but I'm open to other opinions about this.
