Cave Noire for the original Game Boy. It's a great little roguelike where you have to avoid monsters and collect lots of treasure.

I like it a lot; you can even play it without knowing japanese, but there's an english patch.

Yeah, shame it has to be so obscure. Games like this sure deserved more.

The Daiku no Gen-san/Hammerin' Harry GBC game is eerily similar to it, just with a different theme. I personally love 'em both.

Survival Kids. You play as kids who have to escape after being stranded on an island, so it's all about finding ways to survive and fending off wild animals.

It's lot better than those Lost in Blue sequels. There was a Japan-only sequel that never came out in english.
