I never played a Mega Man game in my life, which title should I play?

>> No.911258

Mega Man

>> No.911259

2 and 3 are the best

>> No.911263

Start with 2, work your way up. Play the SNES entries in the X series too.

lists the ones where he doesnt have all his abilities

the charge up made the game more fun and more complicated, same with the slide

1-3 are the worst in the series because they have such simple level design. They are very good for begginers for this reason though

I always thought 1 was pretty good for beginners.

The robot masters take so much damage from the buster and I believe that a lot of the difficulty in certain areas in overplayed (Elecman's stage is pretty easy if you have previous experience with platformers)

The only difficult part is Yellow Devil

I only liked 1 and X. Physics changes, no matter how small, piss me off.

>> No.911384

I alway`s liked 2 the best...

In order of difficulty

In order of quality

10 is also a really stellar game, and I'd say on par with MM3 or MM1 in terms of challenge (maybe a bit easier than 1).

Mega Man 2 is the most fun and a great starting point.

Why did you mention 10 but leave out 9, which is the best game in the series despite not really being retro?

Why is this game so fucking expensive? I picked it up for $10 new, and now I find out it is worth hundreds.

>> No.911593

I don't think this game actually exists. I don't believe you own a copy.

>>911256

Go with 2. I think someone on the BST is selling one for $15 shipped.

The answer to this question for any series is ALWAYS the first game.

Just try it. If you don't think it's for you, try the second or third game.

People exaggerate how difficult it is to get into MM1. It's no different from the rest.

>> No.911642

Most have already said it, but play 2 first. I think it's the best introduction to the series and the easiest for new players to get into.

Late PS1 game with security against pirating. Doesn't run well on emulators last I heard.

>> No.911683

Try 2. If it's not really your thing, then give X a shot. But you should return to the classic series at some point.

totally agree here.

2 is nostalgic because of its easy difficulty. 1 and 3 are not remembered because of how hard they are compared to MM2, which has the difficulty rating fit for a 3yr old. (YES.... to its record it does have a "hard mode")

I personally love 3-6. The graphics are higher and so is the sound quality. I also love how they pull off the same graphical technique sega did with the sonic games but shading the textures to make them look 3D or more rounded on a flat surface. (pic related)

Contrats on getting the game cheap. I had to fork over $70 for my copy. At least I got Legends 1 and 2 back in the day for $15 each.

That "Hard" mode in Mega Man 2 is actually "Normal" mode in the Japanese version. Playing it on "Normal" mode in western versions is actually the "Easy" mode. It was intended to be more difficult.

As far as quality of the NES games, I go:

3 > 4 > 2 > 5 > 6 > 1

No, it was never available.
