There's an entire custom level campaign called "Tomb Raider: Biohazard" which basically serves as a Resident Evil crossover. It's set in 1993 in Northern Ireland, and involves zombies, the supernatural, and a cursed box.

Jesuschrist OP, thanks. It was so a long time ago of the last thread, yeah.
The last thing a played was TLR. The Alexandria library, i think. So far the game it's pretty good. Riddles, level design, action movie story style... it's all cool. The first levels are hideous compared to what the game has prepared for you desu. But yeah... i know... young Lara is pretty hot.

It's not a thing of your computer, but your antivirus think it's a malware. You may write the game path into its white list or disable the antivirus when you play (remember that after enable it, it will delete your savegame files, so be careful)

and no, if you downloaded the game from trle.net or other official website, the files aren't a virus.

I think I got filtered by TR4. After beating all games from TR1 till TR3, the Cairo levels in TR4 was the section that finally broke me. Platforming on a bike in a dark and ugly level is not fun.
Come to think of it, I still had the most fun with TR3, although TR4 has some pretty neat sections as well.

The crystal system in TR1 is good for noobs as it makes them repeat sections, which makes them more proficient at the game and make them less likely to die again.
It doesn't effect more experienced players as TR1's the easiest game in the Core series and they won't be dying often anyway.

Yeah, fair enough, although I think a patient new player will improve over time regardless of how much repetition they're forced to do (and perhaps the repetition might just frustrate them to the point where they quit). This kind of gameplay is the thing I miss a lot in current gaming. I feel it has some relation with the rise of the indie puzzle gaming genre, where every puzzle game nowadays can only be this: a pure puzzle game. If you look at reviews for any game that has puzzle elements mixed with other stuff (be it time restraints, platforming or whatever) you'll most likely see people crying because they are pretty much disabled and don't have the ability to jump on a fucking platform.

playing with a ps1/2/3 controller with the dpad is what the games were designed around. old school games that only require button presses are always going to be better and easier with a controller (with a good dpad) imo. the more button inputs there are, the more fiddly using a keyboard becomes. with the playstation controller it is easier to walk and strafe/shimmy because it is assigned to the shoulder buttons. i have played using a keyboard, i played angel of darkness using a keyboard back when it came out because and it's fine, but given the choice i would always use the classic playstation controller. i understand why somebody would want to use the keyboard instead of an analog stick though

the fact that the guy you replied to thinks using a controller for tomb raider is weird makes me think that he's probably younger and instantly thinks of modern controllers and analog sticks when he hears the word "controller". the vast majority of people played these games with a ps1 controller when they were released. the tomb raider games have always had a good pc fanbase but they were the minority and even many of those probably used pc controllers to play these games

TR3 has a very uneven difficulty curve. It starts off stupidly hard, but then gets easier as levels go by, only to kick you in the balls with Antarctica.

Just poor texture work. The ticket machine you're supposed to use DOES have a one-penny sign when all the others are 2, and you should have a one-penny piece in your inventory, but the actual visual look makes the difference hard to discern and the objects seem like background.
Plus the London levels suffer from a severe lack of direction. Where are you trying to go? Why? What kind of nightmare London even is this? Nevada has it a little bit, but India and the South Pacific and even Antarctica all have much better paths that suggest themselves in each level.
Madubu Gorge might be stupidly coded and quite hard, but you know full well you need to get all the way down that river.
A lot of TR3's obscure paths are down to texture inconsistencies and poor signposting.

I'm not looking forward for it due to practical reasons, rather than not wanting it to be made. He got a C&D from Squenix on his project and had to can it. There are now two factors to take into account:
- Embracer Group would have to void the C&D (it's still in force, even after the franchise changed ownership)
- Nicobass would want to return it and give back 100% of effort into it, after nearly 5 years of break
In fact, as far as I've understood his posts during covid, he was actually pissed as all hell, because he had all the time in his life due to home office to work on DOX, but he still had that C&D by Squenix, send to him just because, rather than them doing anything with the franchise.
In other words: if Embracer voids the C&D and Nico is back to work, FANTASTIC. It's just how unlikely it is, and first of all, if Embracer Group even KNOWS there is a guy like that and under C&D, then if they care about it.

If it's the jump timing, unironically run the Lara's Home assault course and focus on your timings. Remember that Lara's pace counts you in, you want to jump on the edge and do have a little grace (about one pace).
Lara's abilities are precise. Jumps of various kinds do exactly what they do. You will learn the distances and how to measure on the grid that each level is formed on.

If they were creatively bankrupt, they wouldn't be picking a Sisyphus work that is merging... 7? 8? different continuities. They would just make another game in the line, Legend-style (thus disregarding any pretense of continuity and just moving forward). Not saying that merging anything into a "one true canon" is a good thing, just pointing out it's not the easiest, bottom-line one.
>Also stop speaking on behalf of the other people, you look really silly.

Yeah, this thread shows the very contrary of that. But you might be correct, insofar that zoom-zooms don't care about TR, they care about a fake, purely engineered "controversy", designed entirely to get them hooked and thus spread the buzz for free about this new TR that will be "totally ruined", even if nothing was disclosed about the game itself, and everything can be backpedaled from at any point.

>Is Last Revelation worth playing
Yes, its great, probably the most ambitious and challenging TR of the bunch. Yes there is backtracking, and yes the secret finding (if you even care) is on steroids. Also... the dreaded ropeswing and quadbike sections which still haunt me to this day. But i still found the game very enjoyable dispite those aspects. If you've played the first 3 games i dunno how you could stop before TLR. Lara looks great in it too.

tr3 is best

>1 - cistern, but also like the 2nd level
>2 - temple of xian, also great wall, venice 1 & 2, and parts of tibet; entire middle part of game kinda blows
>3 - madubu gorge is the coolest, but I also like 1st desert level and 1st south pacific level; actually enjoyed london for the most part
>4 - wasnt for me, but she looks best in it

Deagle best gun
3's different outfits for different areas was great; improved on 2
going from 2 to 3 was a big deal; it looks so much better, has particle effects, sounds way better (guns are louder, her footsteps change depending on the surface)
2 has the best endgame though

I'd kill for some more ps1-era TR, but I say that about a lot of franchises.

I wish there was a pacific northwest group of levels, but they'd have to make up some ruins that dont exist.

So... Golden Mask 2.0?

well, okay, I skimmed through it
I only ever saw the first level and it looks like tibet, but I see that there are some sections later on that kinda sorta look like what I had in mind, but I was thinking shit more like pic-related

rainy/cloudy, pine trees, ferns, mossy boulders, gorges, creeks/sounds/waterfalls, caves, wood+rope bridges, maybe some sorta mesoarmerican style ruins, wolves/bears/cougars/alligator gars/eagles/sasquatch, maybe some tribal natives like the south pacific guys but with tomahawks and bows

I'm pretty certain there is a TRLE level for just that vibe.

I fucking hate this shit. Out of all video game boards, /vr/ is the one that has it. Meanwhile, a blatant bumpfag thread on /vst/ is on for a month, with less than 100 posts, and will stay there till Christmas

I'll just make a new thread after this one will be archived.

I still remember the time when I hooked up my PS2 to the good CRT and Soundsystem in the living room and played TR3's London with texture filtering enabled.
I was so fucking immersed.
