combat is serviceable if you compare it to the game's contemporaries, i.e. bloodrayne, manhunt, rune, morrowind, etc.
but the game discourages combat anyway, most everything can be solved with stealth (aside from Xiao)

There was that other World of Darkness retro game that was really good.

Apparently Capcom only wanted to license the "Vampire" name so they could stop calling it Darkstalkers in America, but White Wolf thought it was a collaboration due to a shitty translator, and sent back notes. Capcom Japan was offended at the arrogance and called it off, which is why the console version is just called Darkstalkers 3.

Actually I can see a shit tier translator making that mistake. "Here's a copy of the game we put your name on as a promotion" could be mistranslated as "Review this copy of the game for us to collaborate." And if this was the 90s weebs aren't juicing the japanese translation industry yet.

I think firearms are underpowered early but I also believe that people overreact about it. The first few guns you get suck but I think it makes sense. You can get a shotgun before the first map ends, which is pretty good even if you don't have the skill high enough to use it at its full potential.
