Here's an issue I've been on both sides of and would like to know /vr/'s opinion.

When you are not playing your beloved top-loading retro console and it's just out for display (we'll use SNES in this case) do you leave a game and controller plugged into it like the PAL on the left, or no cart and no controller like NTSC on the right?

I personally think the look on the left is more inviting and "hey I'm ready to play!" but the look on the right is more sophisticated and works well if you like to keep your stuff organized.

So how do you display your console /vr/?

I usually just keep the last game Ive been playing or the game i have been playing for a while in my system.

I havnt seen anyone who leaves there snes without a game in it

>> No.909770

I always put my games away when I'm done for any system, but I leave the controller plugged in because it would just be too much of a hassle (though, modern consoles have wireless controllers anyway).

>> No.909774

Last played game is left in, other games are put away neatly.

It helps me sleep at night.

This, though I recently left FF6 in my SNES for a while until I felt bad about it.

>> No.909820

I unplug controllers and put games back on the shelf. Everything has to be tidy.

>> No.909921

Even though it's not my FAVORITE game, I leave Super Mario World in the SNES when not playing because the look is iconic. Everything is stored away neatly.

I wish I could break this habit because so many other games have awesome cartridge art!

>> No.909932

The consoles I have hooked up and ready to play will often have a game in them(DKC2 and CBFD currently for SNES and N64 respectively), but due to the way I shelve my consoles, I couldn't have a game in them even if I wanted to.
Even if and when I can display them better, I'd doubt I'd leave a game in an unconnected system.

I like figures as much as the next guy, but having them cluttered like that and not matching some sort of theme is just juvenile and tacky.

>> No.910014

I always keep the last played cartridge in as protection of the console's contacts against dust, put the console away, and then roll up the cord of the controller over the controller until it has reached the slot. The only thing I remove is the power and TV cable.

I leave the consoles plugged in but always take the game and controller out. I just do it because I hate having all the controllers on the floor or wrapped up and on top of the console. I also keep the game I'm trying to beat at the front or top of its column/row so it always serves as a constant reminder.

I'm curious why you have a sealed Sonic 2 for Game Gear, it doesn't look like you even have a GG

Yeah, it's the arrangement of and not the actual fact of owning toys that's juvenile.

If I had my way I'd buy a used controller and cut the cord off to display with the console itself.

I have 1 controller attached to all plugged consoles, but i do put the games away.

I have a Super Famicom connected to the TV right now with a Super Hori Commander connected and a cartridge inside said cartridge is an SD2SNES

>> No.910667

The correct answer is: neither. When not in use and connected to a television or monitor, your consoles should be on mounted plaques like trophies on your walls, from which they can be easily removed should you wish to employ said console in recreation.

You only have a handful of N64 games, why the labels? Why not just memorize which ones were where?
