Dude you're the sperglord. Technically we own a copy of the game on original media and a limited license to play it. Everyone in the universe knows what OP meant nobody needs your shitposting to open their eyes to some enlightened truth about owning games.

The great Carnac can read your mind. The BASIC adventure game you wrote for CS201, for which exists only one copy is yours and it's rarer than anything in this thread because there's only one copy but that doesn't make it good. It just makes you a dipshit.

I'm not sure, as I am surprised each time I find that I have a game and it is apparently rare or valuable.

I have nothing along the lines of PDS or Gimmick, but the ones that I am aware of that at least approach being worth their original price, if not more...

Sega CD: Vay, Lunar 2
Playstation: Mega Man Legends 1, 2, and Tron Bonne
NES: Fire 'n Ice, Batman: Return of the Joker, Mega Man 6
Master System: Castle of Illusion

I have lost my entire collection at least twice. Everything I have now is built up from about 2002.

I have a few other Saturn games that go for decent amounts of money on ebay, but they aren't rare, and I didn't take good care of them as a kid. People just want a lot for popular Saturn titles for some reason.

A lot of people will disagree. But since some minor scratches always appear even in well-kept copies, I must agree that removing the seal makes it "spiritually damaged" at least.

And no, resealing doesn't count, because if the original wrap was removed, the copy is tainted.

I only mention FF7 PC because no one has it. You only hear about it because people either A.) got bootleg or B.) got it here recently digitally. I always liked the packaging of the PC version. It has cloud on the cover and when you open the booklet up, there sits midgar.

I doubt anyone today uses MINT as NEW.

I've never heard it being used in that meaning.

more that today it means "pristine" condition.

Before I sold it, it was Intelligent Qube...
Now I have a few choices:

NiGHTS into Dreams with box and 3d Controller game itself isn't that rare, neither is controller, but both together with the box is pretty good).
Popful Mail Sega CD
Trampoline Terror Genesis
Sonic 3D Blast Saturn
Bug Too Saturn
Clockwork Knight 2 Saturn
Escape from Cyber City CD-i
Area 51 Saturn

I have a lot of uncommon games, but very few rare ones...primarily because I can't resist selling valuable things when I always need money.

>> No.915773

i guess earthbound is my most rare game, of course I was a kid back then who's only concern was playing the game, so I threw away the box and the guide is beat to hell.

these days i keep everything nice, but it's not like anything is really rare anymore.

> but it's not like anything is really rare anymore.

except for a handfull of really rare and expensive titles this is true....

even those "rare japanese" games that dont pop up that often on Ebay or other places are common in Japanese retro shops.

and so many resellers buying up all those "rare" games.

today we're basically just left with expensive but not rare games.

Adjective

1. In its original condition; unspoiled.
2. Clean and fresh as if new; spotless.

> Over time, the term "mint" began to be used to describe many different items having excellent, like-new quality.

So basically you said "I've never heard it that way, but I have."

You can take it as flaming man; I was just pointing out how what you said didn't make much sense. I've also never experienced someone trying to sell me something mint that wasn't sealed or, alternatively, graded. Near-Mint is a popular term though, and is usually how I get anything when it comes to cards or vidya, if at all.

>> No.915838

>>915830

okay then because I experienced the opposite thing.

NG games ie are always sold as "mint" when they are in a really good condition.

ie the grading scale from neo-geo.com

NEW - Appears to have come straight from a factory sealed case.

LIKE NEW - Solid mint overall and appears to have never been played.

MINT - Insert & manual are in pristine condition. Virtually scratch free cart (minor factory scuffing may be present) but can't be 100% confirmed to be unplayed.

NEAR MINT - Faint signs of wear, perhaps a few light cart scratches, but close to mint.

EXCELLENT - Minor signs of wear, some cart scratches and insert could have some whitening and/or creasing at the edges.

VERY GOOD - Moderate wear, whitening & cart scratches.

GOOD - Progressively more wear, whitening & cart scratches than very good.

POOR - An abused item that has suffered numerous misfortunes. Cart scratches can be physically felt at this stage.

ROUGH - Item used as hockey puck, chew toy, or both. You get the idea.

>>915838
Ah. Near Mint for me has always been like "Card/CD/Disc/Cart has no obviously discernable injuries to its form", although your near-mint works as well I suppose. If I got a disk with scratches or a card with any sort of bend or visable wear tho, that shit is not 'near mint'.
