Planescape: Torment. Nameless One can only die in very, very specific ways.

Shining Force. You never really die, just respawn at the church.

Monkey Island?

Or well.. except for the notably unlikely asphyxiation after holding your breath for 10 minutes death

PS:T has a few specific game overs. I managed to get into a death loop once by accidentally luring a fuckton of enemies to where I respawned upon death, but it doesnt really count.

Isn't that the only Game Over you can get in the whole game?

>> No.912749

Leisure Suit Larry 7 has none.

That's radically different from the earlier games, where Larry can die at any moment from something you'd never expect. A couple of them have scenarios were you can completely miss out on a necessary item permanently and not know you needed it until literally two hours later when the game kills Larry over it, after you've passed the point of no return long afterwords.

Animal Crossing and Sim City. Actually, a lot of Sim games if you think about it.

I can't think of a SimCity game where you can't get kicked out of office for fucking everything up. You pretty much have to be a 5-year-old or intentionally trying to get it, but you can get a game over. Plus the games like SimCity 2000 where there are scenarios.

In SimAnt you can die. And you likely will, numerous times, and will Game Over if you fuck up enough.

LSL2 was horrible about it. So many essential items that you could permanently miss out on without knowing you needed it until much, MUCH later.

/vr/ related
One of the many changes to the Director's Cut of Broken Sword, was the removal of the death scenes, which meant no more game overs.
There's also the addition of the hint system, which prevents users coming to dead-ends when they can't work out what to do.

The original's better.
