Arguably one the most influential games of all time, it set the blueprint for the platformer genre that would shape the gaming landscape for the following two decades.

You're right, this is much better. The music is still overbearing though.

What’s more, it was coded in 8 weeks by a 17 year old. Matthew Smith revolutionized video games then faded into obscurity, blighted by drug addiction and mental health issues. It’s one of the biggest tragedies in gaming.

What's the significance of the keyboard? Does it show you the keys being played for the music or something?

>> No.9083092

Yes, it shows notes played. ZX Spectrum games before Manic Miner barely had any sounds at all as the computer lacked a proper sound chip, so Matthew Smith was showing off by (horribly) playing actual music on the title screen.

completely delusional. it changed nothing, and people are supposed to defend schizo nonsense and give detailed replies on such an insignificant career? pure cope of uk morons. people that didn't own a c64 or speccy didn't even know he existed, and he had no influence on later games.

wrong, everyone who's not a total wanker knows him here. his influence is acknowledged by several big name industry people as well as video game reseachers going back to the 80s and 90s.

piss off mate.
