I don't remember the ending of the first game exactly, I remember he got sucked through the vortex. The ending of the second game was really cute though

Klonoa is a dream traveler or something like that, he isn't native from that world and all his memories were made up by hewpou so klonoa would help them get rid of the bad guy. Since he wasn't part of that world, when the princess or whatever started singing, klonoa got purged.

It doesn't matter Klonoa sucks as a character. The games suck. And yes I have played this and the PS2 game. I didn't realize I hated them until I asked myself, why did I give away Klonoa but kept everything else over a decade ago...

It basically deflated all the emotional weight from Klonoa witnessing his grampa getting killed
Also Klonoa just disappearing into the portal without any further explanation was kinda rude. It didn't even have a scene where he wakes up back in his world or anything, he just gets vacuumed out of the game.
