Underrated games thread?

Underrated games thread.

Just look at this game. It's a little gem, and nobody seems to pay any attention to it. Also, dat badass soundtrack:

Any other games you consider underrated as hell, /vr/?

That fucking game. Also the first time I played that it actually had Mario's head in Jackie's body.

I should still have this game somewhere, I never gave it away or sold it or anything, but it's not with my other NES carts.

I can assure this game had one of the most amazing soundtracks in the entire NES library. Really powerful tunes that still are in my head, 23 years later:

Sublime.

It was basically Adventure Island with spin-kicks and fireballs. AKA "awesome."

I remember seeing a screen picture of the title screen in Nintendo Power when I was a kid and laughing my ass off (I had never heard of Jackie Chan back then).

Yeah I hadn't heard of Jackie Chan back then either. I think I saw it on some video game review show back then, and that's why I wanted it.

That's because the game was actually put out over here before Jackie Chan got his big Hollywood break. Almost no one at the time knew who he was. What possessed them to release a game with his name on it here in the US is beyond me.

Good game, though.

I think The Guardian Legend was such an awesome underrated game. it is like Zelda, Metroid and Gun-nac all rolled into one.. Real bad ass IMO..

Guardian Legend is amazing.

I dunno how people feel about it now, but Journey to Sillius is pretty good. And has really really nice music.

even knowing who Jackie Chan is now that title screen is pretty ridiculous and made me laugh.

well... sure he wasn't well known yet, which nullified a selling point... but if they DIDN'T put his name on it would that really have positively effected sales at all? So really what's the point of removing his name from it?

I just grabbed that from the 'bay for $7.50 shipped.

I am berry excitebike.

I know when it came out it was pretty big, but it's easily one of the best IPs on the NES that never made it to the SNES. Metroid made it, Punch-Out made it, Castlevania made it, but Startropics had a sequel come out after the SNES was already popular, and got mostly ignored, then the series died completely.

The plot may have been shit, but it was a pretty fun game.

to be honest, the first startropics wasn't that popular either in it's time despite it being a really fun game.
