Sure!
>PSP
Came before the arcade, has a more horizontal playfield
>DS
Vertical playfield, first to have a story mode

The newer Switch/PS4/PC releases have higher-resolution assets and different, longer scenes, but here's the thing: each and every overseas release (even the new ones, somehow) has muted the voice clips, axed the story mode, and run the remaining text through google translate, so whatever you choose, make sure it's a japanese release.
I've also heard the PC ver. has all the files intact and you can re-enable said content by booting the game under JP locale.

You're given a set of puzzle pieces and have to figure out a way to assemble them leaving no gaps, a task that ranges from easy to impossible depending on order.
You're literally using your own definition of "puzzle" and then getting upset that the rest of the world won't obey your definition. It's like a classic behavior of autists.

puzzle pieces are for creating an object; the puzzle is figuring out where the pieces go. In Tetris you don't need to "figure out" that you should fill a hole. If you're not autistic, then hearing "puzzle game" recalls Portal more than aimlessly stacking blocks – an actual autistic habit

Yes. Any sane person would, a puzzle is any tricky problem-solving game. It's a game you puzzle over, much like how you are puzzled by the English language, and by basic human interaction.

you're not solving problems, you're just fitting together blocks in a proper order
like in tetris for instance you have to do it on the fly, and it can change
same for rubix cubes, well there's no timer there but the point is to change it

>> No.9066528

>>9066512
>you're not solving problems
Have you not ever played Tetris? It's a constant struggle to identify the best solution in the current problem space, and the space is continually shifting, and you need to plan ahead and strategize about which pieces to put where based on the playing field and the piece you have and the next piece coming. It's an NP-hard problem, which you have to solve.
You keep trying to redefine words to try to make your argument work, but it's just wrong on the face of it.

>> No.9066531

>>9066528
yeah, i have
and that's the point, the space is indeed shifting, and that's part of what makes it not a puzzle
a puzzle only has one answer to it
and i don't mean puzzle pieces obviously

>> No.9066534

>>9066531
Puzzle pieces are also about creating something, usually a painting. A line in Tetris doesn't represent anything lol, the holes are a means to an end (making everything a hole). I'll tell you, I'm a landscaper, and maybe figuring out which shovel to use for this plant is a puzzle, maybe figuring out how to make my way through this dog shit soil is a puzzle, but "figuring out" that I need to dig a hole and plop a plant in there isn't a puzzle.

>> No.9066549

This is a definition you have made up, it bears no resemblance to how the word puzzle is used on Planet Earth.

It's NP-hard, there is no perfect solution, only approximations thereof, which is why it's addictive and has so much replay value. It's like a fractal puzzle. You find specific solutions in the moment, not one overall solution that works and beats the game forever.
