Is it worth getting 200+ % map completion for the best ending?

I remember liking that game but it was really repetitive at some points.

>>9029483
If you think the game is repetitive why would you even subjugate yourself to fully mapping out the castle? Are you retarded?

>> No.9029498

>>9029483
Well, you don't need 200%, you need 196%, which means you don't need to follow a tutorial, as you can miss the secret rooms but still get the best ending.
The ending itself is nothing special.

See, the fist attacks nearly just as fast, but it also has the benefit of hitting twice. It has a sweet spot but the damage is nearly double. Although, I'll be honest here, this only really matters to you if you're doing some sort of randomizer or difficulty mod. Otherwise, the game is literally beatable with any weapon or armor configuration.

>> No.9029629

>>9029621
The weapons have bizzare special attributes that barely matter.

The knives and fists can be held and these act like a shield blocking projectiles. It's barely useful but it's in the game.

>> No.9029640

>>9029621
Yup. SoTN is way too easy and would have been a better game if it actually forced you to use all those potions and spells and weapon configurations.

It's an annoying sound effect. I avoid killing these guys once I don't need their exp points/drops anymore.

This is indeed true and it's absolutely bizarre. I think the game may have had a different design philosophy at first before being changed to what it was now.

>>9029640
This is also funny because you can run through the game as Richter and it's almost balanced around being tough as nails if you play casually and aren't chaining smash attacks and the like. I'm 100% certain if they toned down the RPG elements and gave you a fixed life meter and attack that the game would be inherently more balanced. Of course, that would make the game more similar to Hollow Knight, which is explicitly not retro. It is, however, very fun and well made for what it is. I digress, because SOTN was fun enough for me to play the shit out of it to the point where I literally ran the disc to the point it shattered while in the cd-drive, then did speedruns back on arcade to the point where I had narrowed down my route to just under an hour legit before the game had all these crazy 2-3 frame skips and the like that I did not have the patience to learn.

Lots and lots of these are undocumented because they're so minor it's not relevant to mention. I only found them out on subsequent playthroughs. The shield-effect also explains why knives-fists have double attacks at close range.

There is the attack, then the shield pose is briefly held, and counts as a second attack. This is likely a deisgn oversight.

I think the intention is so that you can viably dual-wield and have some shield properties with these weapons.

I think my favorite 'what is the point of this' is how you can use any shield against Richter and it'll deflect his cross attack away from you. He's the ONLY enemy in the game that you can do this to, as not even Fake Trevor's attacks can be reflected in this manner, and it still doesn't stop the attack from hurting you if by some means you catch up to it once it's deflected away.

Then there's the dancing with Holy rod by inputting Left, Right before an attack that ensures a boosted attack. The Gradius shield orb with Shield Rod. The fact that Lunar Rod's attack is boosted if you're using the Moon Bracelet. There's a lot of love that went into this game, and probably that's why it's so popular.
