Just installed deus ex on my computer, and the intro runs at double speed. The scenes change when they're only halfway through their sentences, and dialogue is cut off as a result. Any figuring on why that happens and how to resolve it? Version is the GOTY edition from GoG.

Have you tried turning off v sync in the game as well as your graphics card settings? That might be doing it.

This happened to me years ago with the mod, "Nihilum." It was hilarious, but impossible to play since I couldn't control my movement with any amount of precision. It may have actually been going faster than double speed for me. It's been too long for me to remember the fix, but it had something to do with DirectX.
Get Kentie's launcher http://www.kentie.net/article/dxguide/
That alone will probably fix it or allow you to toggle something that will. I'd also recommend New Vision and HDTP. They don't change the gameplay at all; they're just subtle visual enhancements.

Cap your monitor refresh rate to 60hz

Didnt want to make a new thread for this so:

quick rundown on the nameless mod? there are no reviews whatsoever, only gameplay streams

Vsync is forced in Deus Ex. There isn't any in-game option.

Full conversion mod that follows a digital conflict in a Deux Ex fan forum with lots of inside jokes you won't understand because you weren't a regular on whatever fan forum its based off of in 2004. Level design isn't bad & the amount of work put in is genuinely impressive. If that sounds like something you'd like go for it.
