Peak Final Fantasy.

I read recently somewhere that originally Square had planned to remake FFIII for the PS2 but Sony stopped it for some reason. How I wish we'd gotten a FFIII using the high-res characters rather than the low poly chibis that we wound up with on the comparatively gimped DS. Those few seconds of the opening cinematic is all there is.

Favorite? Hard to say.
There are protags from games that I like that I haven't even played (Megaman is just a cool robot dude).
Overall, gotta say Link, any form pre-OoT. From the cartoony manual Link to the highly detailed illustrations. He's a hero, through and through.
